1. INTRODUCTION
Database is referred as the organized collection of related information, stored on disk and
can be accessible by several concurrent users. It is also described as repository of data. Database
is separated into application areas. For instance, one database may consist of human resource
data while another may include sales data. Further, the database of accounting data can also be
prepared by different firms (Rob and Coronel, 2007). The management of the database is carried
out through system which is referred to as database management system (DBMS). The role is
majorly maintaining catalogue and directory of database projects. Creation of database has gain
huge importance in the present business environment. This is due to increasing range of business
operations. Thus, through effective development of database the data can be stored and managed
in an effective manner.
The present report includes range of information about the database security as well as
efficiency of data. Further, the study involves evaluation of the benefits of good security and
efficiency to the organizations. In addition to this, it covers security related threats that can occur
in the database of several enterprises. The present study also includes methods that can be
adopted with the aim to ensure security and improvement of data.

Data security and privacy is regarded as an important aspect for the business. In today's
fast moving business environment databases acts as critical asset. They are effective in storing
client details, financial information, organizations secrets as well as other necessary data so as to
carry out business operations in a successful manner (Pokorny and et.al, 2011). The need for
database security has aroused greatly with the increase in number of issues associated with it
from past few years. Database security is concerned with usage of broad range of information
security controls to protect databases against the compromises related to confidentiality, integrity
as well as availability. Database security is effective technique that has several types or
categories of control which includes technical, procedural as well as physical. Database includes
the aspects which are related with computer security, information security as well as
management of risk. Organizations are required to go beyond basic database security in order to

get protected. It is important for firms to demand for better security as this act as a key to their
success. Data security starts with overall strategy as well as risk assessment. This enables the
firm in determining risks that can be faced. Further, it also provides information in relation to the
consequences that can be faced by the organization in case of valuable data is lost through
malware infection, system crash as well as theft (Bansal, 2002). The issues related with data
security are most challenging one. Thus, it is required that firms should take necessary actions in
order to protect its valuable information from potential dangers.
Data efficiency is termed as efficiency related with different processes that can be applied
to data such as storage, access, filtering as well as sharing. In other words data efficiency acts as
a measure of how data storage as well as usage across organization or within the department or
in a project might impact the cost as well as revenue of the businesses. Data efficiency has
greatly impacted the technology in storage at present (Mcleod, 2008). The role of data efficiency
has been greatly viewed towards reducing worries that emerges within IT sector and enhance
concentration of firm towards its operations. Data efficiency possesses three major goals that
include performance, resource efficiency as well as scalability. There is greater importance of
data efficiency for the businesses in today's enterprise as such it assists them in attaining their pre
defined targets in an effective manner.

employee’s activities of theft can be decreased. This is because of existence of
technologies that are related with tracking of workers performance at workplace.
Employees are crucial asset to the organizations (Subramoniam and Krishnankutty,
2005). But sometimes their clashes with organization they get engage into fraudulent
