INTRODUCTION
Big data is defined as extremely large data sets that are analyzed for the business to cover
and manage the data analysis (Favaretto and et.al., 2020).
The report will analyse the big data systems which is the most effective and efficient process
for managing the data sets in the business which defined the characteristics of big data. Along
with this, the challenges of big data analytics and the techniques that are currently available in
the analysis of big data were discussed and elaborated. And finally, the big data technologies that
could support business were identified with the examples on large scale in significant manner.
What is big data and characteristics of big data?
Basically, data refers to raw info, statistics, characters, symbols, etc. that is stored in
computer to process in into useful info. Likewise, big data is collection of large amount of data
which is huge in volume. The data is large is size and highly complex. The data grows with time.
Generally, there ae 3 types of big data that is structured, unstructured and semi structured.
Structure means data that can be processed and stored in fixed format. In Unstructured the
classification of data is not known. There are certain challenges in it (Qi, 2020). And semi
structure is both form of data. However, there are several characteristics of big data which is
explained as below:
Volume- It is first characteristic of data in which its volume is huge. The volume of data play
significant role in finding out value of data. Likewise, it also helps in identifying whether data is
big data or not. This all depend of volume of data. Hence, volume of big data is one
characteristic.
Variety- this is another characteristic in which it refers to heterogeneous sources and the nature
of datacan be structured, unstructured or semi structured. The data can be collected in form of
data base, sheets, e mail, PDF, etc. besides, data can be in form of video, photo, posts, etc.
Veracity- this means that to what extent data is reliable. It refers to process to handle and manage
data in effective way. So, it is necessary to do so as data is complex and this need to manage
properly.
Value – the characteristic means value and reliability of data. In this it shows how we process,
store and analyse data that it is reliable. There can be inconsistency in it which can hamper
process of data analysis.
