Introduction
Information technology is a wider term which encompasses the use of varied
tools such as computers, networking, processes etc that helps in creating as well as
exchanging electronic data (Clarke 2020). It essentially relates to creation and
administration of databases, safeguarding information and building communication
channels for networking. Information technology helps individuals as well as
businesses in varied ways. It has open up the new ways for in accessing information
and how to make it valuable for organisation. To better understand the use and
importance of information technology in businesses, Boohoo Group plc is taken into
consideration. Boohoo Group plc is an UK based online fashion retailer company
which specializes in manufacturing fashionable clothes under their own brand.
Company is founded in 2006 and has its headquarters in Manchester, United
Kingdom.
This project consists of theories and methods regarding the design as well as
development of IT solutions. This project highlights the discussion about various
systems which are used in performing business operations effectively. This project
also includes he explanation about globalization and digital infrastructure. It also
talks about various risks associated with information technology.
Task 1:
Theories, methods and techniques related to the design
and development of the IT solutions are listed here:
(i) McAfee
McAfee can be termed as reliable antivirus which is installed in computers to
scan viruses and protect it from them in a real time (de Mattos, Kissimoto and Laurindo,
2018). It is efficient in detecting various type of malwares such as spyware, adware
and many more. It provides efficient security system to computers in order to protect
them from online threats. It also helps businesses in securing personal data of their
stakeholders. It also helps Boohoo Group in developing an approach to secure their
data from cyber criminals. Methods and techniques of McAfee in relation to Boohoo
Group is as follows:
• Heuristic based detection- It is a practice which uses varied algorithms and
rules in detecting viruses for malicious intent (Earl, 2018). It is able to detect

antivirus software and install malicious application in order to scan viruses. It
aids businesses in detecting potential threats to their system.
• Behavioral detection- It is used by businesses in evaluating behavior of an
object before its execution. It essentially detect those viruses which shut down
the antivirus program in computers.
• Cloud Antivirus- This software is a programmatic solution that detects
viruses on a server (Grosch, 2020). It involves evaluation of data from antivirus
scanning and appropriate measures are sent back to user. This software
helps Boohoo Group in detecting those viruses which came from internet and
other third party sources.
(ii) MS Office
Ms Office is concerned with setting varied applications which helps an
individual in improving their productivity and completing desired task on computer
(Hills, 2018). It contains various applications which is used by businesses to perform
different functions such as preparing document, spreadsheets, presentation and
many more. Its major applications include ms word, ms excel, ms outlook etc. This
software is used by managers at Boohoo Group efficiently to create varied
pamphlets, content for social media marketing and many more. Various methods
and techniques in accordance with Boohoo Group is as follows:
• Smart attachments- It comprises of varied PDFs, spreadsheets, images etc
that are attached to word document in Ms Office. They can be simply opened
in Ms Office and can be edited and modified as per requirements. It helps
managers of Boohoo Group in creating proper communication channel
through e-mail attachments.
• Real time co-authoring- It aids businesses in delivering instant engagement
of applications. It further helps in providing amiable workplace surroundings to
employees in order to increase their productivity. Its workings are just felt like
person working sessions. It helps employees in efficient collaboration of their
content in real time.

DSS (Decision Support System)
It is a computerized program which helps to support divination, acumen and
courses of every action in the company (Kim, Song and Stratopoulos, 2018). DSS shifts

information that can be used to resolve problems and in decision making. It can
produce a number of dissimilar outcomes based on organisation previous data and
current inputs. If Boohoo group plc uses this then it precise projections, better
inventory control and data analysis. It helps company to gather or inspect
tremendous amount of data. Also helps to lead inventory and project sales. software
helps firm in sales process as a crystal ball it helps managers to speculate how
changes will affect results.
ESS (Executive Support System)
It is an energy storage system, composite electronic equipment, that has a
volume to control power control in home electrical structure (Mansfield, 2018). It also
helps the senior manager with unformed problems that happen at the strategic level
of firm. If Boohoo group plc management uses this computer based system to supply
the potential to attain access to internal and external facts which apposite to strategic
decision making and extra executive authority. This helps the company to allows

than it can get success in taking strategic decisions in calculating and operating. It
helps the management to recognize cost, quality, price, automation along with
productivity. It smooths the business process and thus facilitate managing of
business operations.
KSM (Knowledge Management System)
This system is used knowledge management principles to typically enables workers
and customers to create, share and find relevant information quickly. If Boohoo group plc
uses this then it set a process to generate, stock, transfer and apply knowledge in the firm. It
manages to promote the firm learning by increasing the capacity of the organization to
grasp from its surroundings and to incorporate understanding into its business process. It
has two major types of knowledge managements which is, internal knowledge and external
knowledge management system. Internal knowledge management gathers the information
and uploaded by individuals and uses in regular basis. Whereas as external knowledge

company growth they need to connect with other foreign countries. This helps to be

informational technology with business operations in an organisation (Wu, Wang and
Zou, 2018). It is implemented in establishments to provide better and efficient
services to customers. Examples of digital infrastructure includes company portal,
website, mobile as well digital communication networks and many more. Digital
infrastructure of Boohoo Group plc interconnects varied physical and virtual
technologies to build a platform for digital operations of company.
Digital infrastructure is advantageous for Boohoo Group plc as it aids in
managing cloud computing techniques. It provides greater flexibility and reduced
costs to organisation. It permits outsourcing agencies to focus on collecting
consumers information through online sources. It opens up the new ways for
developing marketing strategies in order to cater consumers from all over the world.
Digital infrastructure can be a threat for businesses because of privacy and

and why is IT infrastructure so critical to digital
transformation
In this dynamic and rapidly changing environment, it is difficult to manage
complicated and sophisticated applications of information technology. It is needed for
organizations to build such an environment which aces the use of information
technology efficiently in their operations. Emergence of outsourcing of information
system is required because of collection of large data of varied stakeholders. It

involves collection of information of consumers through an external provider or third
party with the help of information technology. These third parties uses varied tools
and techniques to outsource the data. But various risks are also involved in this
process.
Various risks associated with information systems
outsourcing in relation to Boohoo Group plc is as under:
Loss of control- When an organisation believes on an external provider for
information system outsourcing, it eventually loss control over varied functions of
certain system. This practice puts third party in good position as they can use any
technology to gather information. Mangers of Boohoo Group can also lose their
control in operating outsourcing information technology. Company should hire third
party for this process on a rational basis.
Vulnerability of strategic information- There is a threat of loosing trade secrets and
confidential information of company during outsourcing of information system. It
should be carefully examined by organization that third party is not taking any type of

competitive position of an establishment in market. It is recommended to managers
of Boohoo Group plc to critical examine and rationally chose their third party
outsource organisation. Company should also assess their security and data
protection controls effectively.
Hidden costs- There exists varied kinds of hidden cost in hiring an organisation for
outsourcing information system. These cost can be in form of privacy issues of
consumers. Establishments are not well aware of how the collected information is
used by external party. It is needful for managers of Boohoo Group plc to undertake
critical evaluation of the data before delving into any communication with potential
buyers.

transformation
As there is a cut throat competition in the market where the large number of
companies are working in the same in industry and creates the market more
competitive. It is very important for the management of organisation that it develop
effective Information technology structure in their organisation. This IT structure
becomes the base of whole IT system in the company. The IT system of the

but also promotes digitization in the organisation.
The presence of digitization plays a major role in the success of the
organisation in the market because nowadays all the activities of the business
required digital background in the workplace. One of the most common example of
this is the digitization in payment methods. Nowadays most of the customers in the
market makes their payment online instead of cash payment. It is essential for the
business that they have proper digital framework in their organisation so that the are
able to receive the payment online. The absence of this framework in the
organisation may lead to loss of sale and negative impact of the company on their
customers.

organisation has conducted the business of online fashion clothes. It is very
important for the management of the organisation to develop effective IT framework
in their organisation so that the digitization can be promoted. It helps the company in
different aspects such as it enables the company to maintain their online selling arm
and also enables the company to improve their payment structure. It also helps the
organisation to develop effective connectivity in the organisation.

technology has simplified the learning ways and saves time in performing different
activities. Knowledge management system is a IT platform which helps to get the
right knowledge to the right people, at the right time. This helps the structure to store
