d: The cricketing infrastructure of the grounds are significantly benefitted from the use of
the internal IT systems, however along the positives there are lots of constraints associated with
these internal IT systems. Based on the interview it can be said that the application of the IT
systems such as the biomedicines can be very much useful for professional players from all over
the world (Subramaniyaswamy, Logesh and Indragandhi 2018). The telemetry and the video
analysis can be very much helpful regarding all the decision making during the game. The prime
advantage of these IT systems is that it helps in removing the inaccuracies of the game. The
health condition of the crickets as well as the backend staffs can be managed using the internal
IT systems as well.
2.2 Understanding scale of operations
2.2.1 Computer systems in the grass root level
a. It administers vital statistics, video footages and helps cricket fans to share the
highlights of the game in social media (Wright 2015). The vital statistics of the game and the live
footages of the game are very much important to be managed in order to bring more innovate
changes require in this game.
b. Most of the grass root level offices have these computer systems which helps to
improve the customer experience.
c. The video footage and the vital statistics which are managed by the system
administrators help the fans to share these videos and statistics from their accounts. Considering
the application of the computer systems on the ground level, it can be said that these systems
have both positives in terms of improved customer experiences as well as negative such as the
huge initial investment required from the board.

d. Based on the application of the computer system in the grassroots level it can be said
that these systems can also be responsible for the smooth running of the matches (Sreehari et al.
2017). All the 18 first class clubs of England and Wales can be improved with the help of these
computer systems. The main disadvantage associated with the application of computer systems
in grassroots level is the need for maintaining technical experts in each of the game and the
benefit of maintaining these computer systems is customer satisfaction.
2.2.2 Electronic learning and management systems
a. The Electronic learning and management systems (ELMS) is very much important
for all the 18 first club clubs of England and Wales as this system helps in avoiding conflict
regarding the addition of any new concepts and approaches towards the game. This e-learning
platforms are the set of interactive online platforms which are used by both the board members
as well as the cricket fans. Safeguarding the data coming from the stakeholders can be done
using the key enterprise application, anti-corruption, anti-doping and day to day business system
are all managed using the enterprise application.
b. E-learning and membership systems technology was introduced to support the
governance and the operations of the sport.
c. The incorporation of the E-learning and membership systems can be very much
important for both the board members as well as the consumers. The participation of the fans in
the game can be significantly achieved with the help of these advanced IT innovations. A
collaborative platform can be set and identified using the e-learning systems (Schwalbe 2015).

the membership system allows the cricket fans to book their tickets in the first according to their
preferred position in the ground.
d. Considering the incorporation of these advanced systems it can be said that this
decision made by the CIO of ECB can have a direct positive impact on the game from the
business perspective. Complexities faced by the regular cricket fans will be reduced significantly
with the help of this important business decision. However, there are both positive and negatives
associated with this theme (Petrovic et al. 2017). The prime benefit of this theme is the increased
net profitability of the business as these systems will be helpful in attracting all the potential
cricket fans. Fan made parks can also use these technologies in order to improve their business.
The limitation associated with these technologies is the economic market conditions of England
and Wales as they are always dynamic in nature. The pricing of the facilities has to be pre-setted
in the first place before the tickets are available for the cricket fans.
2.2.3 Key enterprise applications
a. The key enterprise applications are introduced in most of the cricket stadiums in
England and Wales as it helps in accomplishing the organizational goal of ECB. All the
important business functions associated with each of the grounds considering their complexities
are managed in an organized manner with the help of the enterprise applications. The interest-
based fans of the game can be also attracted into the ground with the help of the enterprise
applications.
b. The introduction of the key enterprise applications such as the customer relationship
management system and the knowledge management system can be very much important for
ECB to understand the human values of the fans (Noe et al. 2017). The different types of

conflicts which arises between the board members and the fans can be also avoided with the help
of these enterprise systems.
c. Considering the recent history of ECB, it can be said that the incorporation of these
enterprise applications is a huge advantage for both the board members of ECB as well as for the
regular cricket fans of all the 18 first class clubs of both England and Wales.
d. The statements provided by him regarding the introduction of the enterprise
applications are really very much encouraging for all the other cricket boards all around the
world such as ACB and BCCI (Jabeen et al. 2016). The decision taken by CIO to incorporate
different types of enterprise applications across most of the grounds of England and Wales have
both positive and negative effects. The different business factors which can be useful for the
business can be identified in the first place, along with that the limitation of these advanced
programs is the extra overhead cost associated with these programs such as the maintenance cost.
Embracing continual change
a. Big data technology are used for managing of the organizational data of ECB. The data
lake architecture can be very much important for this board to analyze and examine the
performance of the stakeholder associated with the cricket board. The lake architecture runs on
the Google Platform which has to be maintained by this organization as well.
b. The introduction of the big data technology provides this organization an added
advantage with the other cricket boards, this technology is very much useful for the playing
teams of this competition considering the fact-based decision makings (Greenberg 2017).
Production and generation of the technical, as well as the non-technical reports, can be easily
done with the help of this technology.

c. Considering the current trend followed in the English conditions, it can be said that this
technology is very much new to this game. However, this technology can also help ECB to
enhance their existing revenue from each county or international matches. The complexities in
the different types of applications which are currently used can be also prevented using this
technology.
d. Considering the decision taken by the CIO of ECB, it can be said that the assimilation
of the big data technology can be very much beneficial for the cricketers as well for the other
stakeholders of this business such as the operational managers of each of the cricket stadiums as
the board members are no longer interested in working with tools such as business intelligence.
The categorization of the raw data with the other data of cricket can be done with the help of this
technology as well (Dozier et al. 2016). The introduction of big data technology has both
positive and negative impact on the cricketing infrastructure of England and Wales. The main
advantages of this technology are that this technology is compatible with many other
technologies as well such as data mining, the predictive decision making of the cricket teams is
the other important benefit of this technology. The in-memory databases can be also managed
using this technology.
Delivering great results
a. The cricket fans of ECB are managed using the CRM (Customer Relationship
Management), the participants and the customer of this organization are managed using the CRM
(Cook 2017). The clients who are watching the game at home or in the stadium or trying to use
the resources of ECB for their personal activities can be significantly benefitted from the use of
this technology.

participants. The digital contact points used by ECB can be also managed using this software.
c. Considering the upcoming Twenty20 tournament which is scheduled to start in the
summer of 2020, it can be said that CRM might play a huge role to increase the revenue offered
by this organization.
d. The strategy adopted by the CIO of ECB regarding the implementation of digital
technology can be very much important for this century-old cricket boards, as it will help them to
go through the continual changing process before the start of the biggest T20 tournament in
Europe (Arora et al. 2017). The discussion of the CIO suggests that everything is going as per
their plan. There are both positive and negative about the use of digital technology regarding
dealing with the continual change process (Clarke 2015). The main positive as that there are no
chances of error while applying the digital technologies whereas the main drawback of using
these technologies is the need of maintaining IT experts in each level of operations in ECB.
Missing Issues
There are lots of issues and problems which are not addressed by the CIO of this
organization such as the followings:
o Keeping up with the change: There are lots of issues associated with technologies like
hawkeye technology which are already been used in the county cricket matches of ECB
are not addressed by CIO.
o Lack of integration with new technologies: Compatibility issues of the technologies
which are discussed by the CIO was not addressed in the interview.

by the CIO of ECB.
o Staff management: The issues of the workforce management software such as the
management of the travelling fans were also not addressed by the CIO of ECB.
o Calculation of the uncertainties of the business: There are lots of uncertainties
associated with the use of the digital technologies in the match such as the adverse
temperature conditions of England, these uncertainties were also not mentioned by the
CIO.
Future direction for CIO
The future strategies and directions which the CIO should be pursuing are discussed
below.
The implementation of digital technologies should be based on professional IT
governance plan created by IT experts.
The needs and requirements of both the regular as well as the travelling fans should be
considered while incorporating new digital technologies.
Opinions from the fan base groups and the travelling plans must be considered before
implementing a change in the system.
The threats to intellectual property must not be ignored by ECB.
Cyber Security risk management team must be there in all the cricket grounds of ECB.
