INTRODUCTIONInformation technology refers to usage of computers for storing, retrieving, transmittingand manipulating data in terms of business. It includes software, telecommunications, hardwareand transmission of data to provide effective communication. In this report Marriott Hotels &Resorts is considered, it is a brand which offers services in resorts and hotels sector. Thisorganization is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, United States. This report covers ethicaland social issues which are related with technology and different types of networks.Furthermore, role of information technology in management of Hotels and resorts is discussed.Literature Review Understand ethical and social issues associated with TechnologyEthical issues: A situation which needs organisation or an individual to decide betweendifferent options which are evaluated on basis of what is right or wrong.There are different typesof ethical issues which are related with technology. They are mentioned below:Cyber bullying: It refers to harassment or bullying via electronic means. This includeshate speech or pejorative labels, victims' personal information, sexual remarks, threats,posting rumours and many more (Eason, 2014). When Management of Marriott Hotels& Resorts is considered then such kind of ethical issue can harm reputation of Hotel butthey have strong systems and have made strong image within market.Internet privacy: Every move made by organisation or an individual can be tracked.Apart from this, location can also be tracked using IP addresses. Management ofMarriott Hotels & Resorts must be aware of what private information they haveuploaded on internet. They must ensure that their systems have effective anti-virus sothat intruder cannot enter in their systems. Social issues: They refer to problems which have influence on large number ofindividuals within society.
