INTRODUCTION
Information Technology is the use of Computer Systems in order to store, retrieve,
transmit and manipulate the data and information. IT can be often used to efficiently operate the
business and even it can be considered as a subset of ICT (Information and communication
technology) in Enterprise. This Report will be completely based Best Western hotel which is
adopting technical tools and techniques to improve the business performance. This report will
also help in creating a clear understanding about the Role of technology in managing the
operations of the Best Western. This study will also provide significance of social and ethical
issues associated with IT. The research will also provide different types of Networking
technology that helps in establishing a interconnectivity between large number of people.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Identify the Role of Information Technology in Managing operations of Best Western
Information technology is all about exchanging data and information amongst large
number of people. Technology supports effective and efficient communication of large number
of people which mainly helps in storing, manipulating, distributing and processing the
information (Alsaad, Mohamad and Ismail, 2017). Best Western Hotel have achieved a
sustainable business as information technology helped the hotel in improving the business
performance which leads to the attainable business objectives. However increasing use of
technology sometimes lay negative impacts on the business.
Technology plays a vital role in managing the operations of the Best Western hotel. As
technology has improved the communication among the employees. Improved communication
has resulted in efficient flow of information which leads to improved operations of the industry.
Communication also helped in establishing a better connection between staff members and also
promotes healthy environment within business. Communication also plays a important part in
Hospitality industry as Main operation of Best Western hotel in to provide quality of services to
customers so good interaction with people leads to the development of the loyal customers hotel.
This in turn increases the sales of the organisation and thus results in maximised profitability.
Satisfaction of customers is one of the important aspect in hospitality industries which can be
resolved by effective communications and also treating consumers with best offerings.
IT also provides various tools and technologies that derive the automated tasks of the
company which contributes towards the efficient performance of the business. Managers of Best

western adopts technology based tools within company in order to engage the employees in
delivering quality based services.
In addition to it, Information Technology have also introduced new concepts of E-
commerce that allows people to buy goods and services over internet. Online transactions
reduces the time and complexities of operation and thus it also reduces the cost of labour,
preparation etc. E-commerce have provided easy accessibility to people that influences the
buying decision of customers. Online facility helps in maximising the sale of the product as it
increases the scope which allows large number of people around globe to order the services via
internet (Begen, Bok and Saltsidis, 2017). Also the payment procedure becomes so flexible that
one can buy the services and spays immediately in response to such goods and services.
Ethical and Social issues that associated with Technology
Ethics can be defined as the moral values and principles which tells the person about
right or wrong. Emergence of the Information technology allows the business organisations to
use technology in order to attain the objectives of the company easily. Use of this technology
started infringing on the rights of individual and such things may promotes unethical behaviour
within society. As new technology allows easy creation and distribution of goods and services
which have eliminated the need to employ human resources. Advancement of technology often
have reduced the job opportunities for people and therefore, this leads to increased number of
unemployed people across the world. This can be sometimes referred as a techno-ethics that
concerned with the area that deals with advancing a technological society. However, These
implementations of technology in the workplace creates various ethical concerns. Ethical issues
associated with Information Technology has widely promoted various fraudulent activities. As
the criminals are benefited as technology provides them tool to access the unauthorised
information. This has impacted on the privacy of the confidential data of people and therefore
resulted in the unexploited ethics of human beings (Bell, Bryman and Harley, 2018). Also,
increasing use of technology has impacted on the need of the human efforts that have provoked
unethical practices in society in the form of increased unemployment.
Social considerations can be termed as such problems which cause conflicting opinions
and factors which are beyond the control of humans which impacts on the society can be defined
as the social issues of Information technology. Recent advances in technology and their ability to
transmit the information within a short amount of time has almost altered the way in which

information being shared among co-workers. However, the impact of technology on university
teaching and research is impacted the society up-to the great extent (Yaqoob And et.al., 2017).
As Information Technology have provided various sources to gain knowledge in the the form of
various websites and different YouTube tutorials. It has completely exploited the the traditional
idea of teaching and thus it impacts on the teaching culture of society.
Different types of Networking technology
Networking technology can be defined as the interconnection of two or more computers
with the main purpose of sharing data and information among each other. A network can be
determined as a medium that establishes a connection between different devices either using
physical cables or may be wireless interconnection. Networking technology can be used to cover
long geographical area which can connect thousands and millions of devices together in order to
exchange data and communicate with each other (Hantel, and et.al., 2018). These networks may
differ from each other in terms of size and purpose and its geographical area in which a computer
system can be accessed. Some of the network that can be categorised on the basis of size are as
follows:
 LAN (Local Area network)
 MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
 WAN (Wide Area Network)

ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
Information technology has promoted advanced operations using different types of IT
tools. It can be analysed that IT has made the world in such a way where technology has
replaced the value of human beings in sustainability and growth of different organisations
(Jeffers, and et.al, 2016). It can also be identified that since Best Western industry has promoted
the use of information technology in business, they have achieved successful business operations
which are resulted in maximum throughput. Technology had set basic standards and principles

for the society which can be clearly visible in the way how society lives. Various negative as
well as positive aspects can be considered that may inspires or threatens people of the
country(Ethical and social implications of emerging technology, 2018).
Benefits of IT
 Information technology helped in increasing production and also saves the time of people
as Technology provides various tools that allows automated tasks.
 Communication is one of the very important change that have made by the technology
that allows the people to change information and resources across the world.
 IT have also advanced various facilities to store the data and manage complex files of the
Best Western Hotel. It has also promoted online business which benefited customers as well as enterprises in
order to develop and sustain more in the society (Simões, Gomes and Yasin, 2016).
Online services have also offers the advantage to consumers that lets them to compare the
facilities and prices of different organisations. However Best Western Hotel have
benefited as it leads to the increased sales of goods and services.
Drawbacks of IT
 Job elimination is one of the great disadvantage nowadays as technology has provided
various tools that helps promotes the automated tasks. So the need to employ human
beings is reduced as all the activities are now handled by machines and Robotics.
 Emergence of technology has considered various expensive machinery in order to
perform machine based work (Sparks, Collins and Kearns, 2016). So huge cost is
involved in entertaining the technology based environment within Best Western hotel.
 privacy and security breaches are also involved as technology has opened all the gates for
criminals to steal the confidential data of the company with the main intention of
cybercrimes in the society.
FINDINGS
It can be found that increasing growth of technology has made all the work much easier.
However, IT sometimes acts as a addiction to the people as more and more people are now
attracted towards the social networking sites. As it has made the people completely dependent on
the internet to gain or know any kind of information. People generally relay on internet to
acquire or adopt any skills or knowledge. This can also be found that use of technology has lead

towards successful and sustainable environment of the business as IT has advanced various tool
to identify the needs and requirements of customers in order to satisfy them.
Furthermore, IT has also negatively impacted the people as they are totally dependent on
the internet to access any information. It could be analysed that teenagers as well as all the age
group is now depend on the source of information which is provided by the internet even if all
the web sites are representing different different data (Visinescu, Jones and Sidorova, 2017).
People have valued the internet as a reliable source which have completely exploited the cultural
and ethical beliefs of the society.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded that Information technology have advanced various tools to improve
the performance of the business. It has almost transformed the way people used to live their lives
earlier. From the above study it can also be concluded that emergence of IT has developed and
improved the living standards of the people. The study has also helped in understanding the
ethical and social issues emerged since the Use of IT has rapidly increased with the pace of time.
The report has also concluded the role of Information technology in managing the operations of
the Best western Hotel. The study has also concluded different types of networking technology
that interconnects the people across the world in order to share data and information.
