INFORMATON SYSTEM
Introduction
This report is concerned with the development of the Information System for the
healthcare system in Australia (Britt et al. 2013). The New Century Wellness Group is trying to
adopt an approach for the healthcare so that they can provide preventive medicines and as well as
traditional type of medical care to the patients. The company wants me to develop the new
Information system and perform the role of IT consultant.
The report provides the details about the development of the information system and the
various types of discussions related to it. The background and the requirements provided by the
organization are provided in the report. In addition to this the context diagram of different levels
for the system and the feasibility study for the justification of the system development is
provided in the report.
Background
The information system that is to be developed by the New Century’s should be
interfacing with the 12 Australian Health Insurance providers. This would enable cost efficient
measures for the organization and also this would the patients to get diagnosed and regular check
up more efficiently and also with less cost. The new system would be more convenient for the
doctors and as well as the patients.
System Requirements
There are two types of requirements for every system (Bloom et al. 2016). They are the
functional requirements and the non-functional requirements for the information system.

INFORMATON SYSTEM
Functional Requirements
The functional requirements for the information system of the New Century’s Wellness
Group are:
The system should be able to provide the daily appointment list for the providers
The system should be able to provide the entire details about the patients.
The system should also be able to provide details about the appointments.
The system should be able to maintain the daily report of the call lists.
The weekly charges generated and the profit distribution data for the partners are to be
provided by the information system.
The system should also be able to provide the monthly patient statements and this would
include various types of details such as the patients name, services performed, and the
appointment times.
The system should also be able to provide the Weekly Insurance Company Report
The monthly Claim Status Summary for the organization should also provided by the
information system.
Non-Functional Requirements
In addition to the functional the non-functional requirements or the system are:
The system should be reliable so that patients can easily depend on the system and also
they would be sure about their data not getting affected.
The system should make sure that the data integrity is maintained and the complex data
in the systems are maintained in a simplified manner so that there are no errors such as
data redundancy and data duplicity.
Document Page
6
INFORMATON SYSTEM
The security of the system should also be maintained since the system would involve
large amount of data various type of healthcare organizations in Australia.
Fact-Finding Method
The fact finding methods that are used for gathering information about the development
of the system are:
Document Sampling
Document sampling is the method where the analysts collect all the related documents for
the system (Bush and Lemke 2016). In this project the system the documents about the
requirement for the system are to be analyzed and all the processes that are used for the
implementation of the system could be well documented and used for analysis.
Questionnaires
The questionnaires can be another form of data collection that can be used for the fact-
finding method (McGuirk and O’Neill 2016). The patients and the staffs for the organizations
can be subjected to a set of questionnaires that would provide the information about the
satisfaction level for the system.
Use Cases
The use cases can be used for the description of the system and hence, functionalities of
the systems would be well documented and hence they would be very useful for the users.

Feasibility Study
For the feasibility study of the system the following studies can be performed on the
system.
Economic feasibility
For calculating the economic feasibility of the system that is designed an economic
feasibility is calculated. This calculation is purely based on assumption however the study shows
that the cumulative NPV for the system is positive and hence the system can be very easily
considered to be economically feasible.

Functional feasibility
For the functional feasibility the system is to be checked and made sure that it performs
all the mentioned functions by the systems (Lorincz et al. 2015). The functional requirements
stated earlier in this report should be satisfied by the system.
Technological feasibility
The system should be performing all the required tasks as mentioned by the organization
and should benefit the overall efficiency of the businesses of the organization. The system should

INFORMATON SYSTEM
be satisfying all the required non-functional requirements as stated by the organization and hence
the technological feasibility will be met.
Schedule feasibility
The system should be implemented within the required time by the organizations and the
project milestones must meet the required timeline set by the organization and hence the
schedule feasibility for the system can be met easily.
