Brazil is one of the fastest growing nations among host of developing nations. The infrastructure
of the country has been rapidly growing to foster the economic growth of the country. A look
into the infrastructure of the country will allow us to understand the growth and development of
the country.
Transportation:
Roadways: Roadways are not highly developed in Brazil. It has 1,751, 868 Kilometers of
roadway network out of which 96, 353 km of road is paved and a major portion of it remains
unpaved or is under construction. The total road system of the country has been increased to
1.98 million kilometers in 2002. Most of the Road traffic is dependent on the highways. The
Trans Amazon Highway is one the most ambitious projects of Brazil which will link the Atlantic
coast f Brazil with the Peruvian border and will cover a distance of 4138 km (Country-data.com.,
2019).
Railways
Brazil has seen a declining growth in the railway system since 1945 due to shifting of importance
to roadways. The total railway network accounted for 30,875 km in 2002 and has been operated
with private and public partnership. Most of the railway system is operated by the federal
railroad Corp. A high speed railway is under construction that is aimed to connect Sao Paulo and
Rio de Janeiro. There are eight metro Systems in eight major Brazilian cities. Four different
kinds of Railway gauge systems are existent in the country. Tramways are also existent in the
country (Country-data.com., 2019).

Water ways
The coastal Shipping links are spread widely in the country. Apart from these Brazil has an
approximate of 50,000km of navigable inland waterways which is still yet to be exploited. There
are 35 deep water ports of which Santos and Rio de Janeiro are the most important.
Airways
Air Transportation is relatively well developed in Brazil as compared to its other transport
networks. Brazil has an estimate of 3,365 airports of which 665 have paved runways. There are
21 major international airports out of 48 principal airports in Brazil. A report by Nation
encyclopedia, around 115 million passengers fly in and out of the country annually.
Electronic communication:
Brazil has about 30 million radios and over 2700 radio stations that are operating in the country.
The estimated audience of the country is expected to be 100 million.
Television:
The total number of television in the country is expected to be 26.2 millions. The potential
audience to TV is around 80 million. The licenses to operate is looked after by the government
and there around 25 TV stations, 269 TV stations owned by Universities and Educational
institutions (Country-data.com., 2019).
Telephones:
The total number of telephones is expected to be around 13,237,852. With the advent of Mobile
technology the increase in the number of cellular communication ahs increased rapidly.

According to Techinbrazil, the total number of user in Brail accounts for 71 million in 2014.
The telecom users have risen enormously in Brazil in the last decade.
Telecommunications Organizations:
The major telecom Companies in Brazil include the government organisation the National
department of Telecommunications and the Brazilian association of Radio and television
Stations.

The daily average newsprint in the country is accounted for 4.43 million Newspapers and the
trend showed an upward rise in the last few years. The most famous Newspaper is the O Globo
apart from Folha de S.Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo (Country-data.com., 2019).
