INHIBITION OF DRUG ABUSE BY PHARMACOLOGISTS1
Introduction
Substance abuse describes ingredients like cigarettes, drugs, alcohol,
physician's prescribed drugs, and other drugs that can damage the human body. It even
leads to addiction. Substance abuse, alternatively known as drug addiction, is referred
to as disorder when the frequent use of drug/alcohol causes clinically significant loss,
including health problems such as psychological distress and other physiological issues
(Roberts et al.). The substance use disorder is prevalent in males, and approximately
50.4% was between the age group of 20-29 years (Bilques et al.). Therefore, there is an
increased necessity to prevent this mistreatment and to initiate awareness programs
related to this matter. This paper focuses on the responsibility of pharmacists in the
prevention of drug misuse.
