Introduction
In this new technical era different innovations are being inventing globally. The main
purpose of implementing such invention is to obtain commercial revenue and competitive
advantages in the market. There are many business organizations which offer solar powered cell
phone to the customers. Microsoft Corporation which is a well known multinational technology
company headquartered in Redmond, Washington United States. Microsoft Corporation has
reengineered their service and innovation in a wide range to ensure that decades old cash in
terms of office windows etc as a part of technology based future.
In order to give huge level competition to other similar organization the needs to focus on
innovating solar power cell phone to restrict the usage of non renewable resources like coal,
natural gas, fossil fuel etc. The product that is selected for such innovation is Nokia Lumia 535.
The solar mobile phones will reduce the usage of electricity. Technology converts everything
much innovative but at the same time it increases the process complexity. This report depicts an
innovation framework along with a detail description. The framework developed in the below
section is recommended to apply in Microsoft Corporation. However, certain gaps are also being
identified in this report which requires further improvements and innovation.
1. Innovation development framework that can be used in Microsoft in terms
of innovation
The touch screen smart phone model that has been selected for this innovation is
Microsoft Corporation’s Nokia Lumia 535. This model has all smart phones feature but the
device is facing massive maintenance cost and competition from other similar companies. Apple

Inc is also recently focused on developing a solar powered cell phone these days therefore, in
order to compete other similar companies Microsoft Corporation is also require to design and
develop solar powered cell phone. The solar powered cell phone will reduce the maintenance
cost. The other internal Operating System is also required to be changed by the company so that t
can support the solar panel and other systematic applications in details.
The solar powered cell phone battery charger is referred to as a device used for avoiding
suing power sources for charging. These devices are very easy to use and do not require any
additional attention. In order to collect the external sunlight the charged hold a solar panel. The
solar panel will be used to convert the solar light into electrical energy. The leading advantage of
using a solar power battery charger is that even in the cloudy whether when clear sun light will
not be available theses can be used successfully. Theses batteries can be charges if they are taken
to the direct sun light. The solar phone chargers can be stored much easily. Theses chargers can
also be for other devices.
1.1 Description of the framework
The framework designed in the above section is comprises of different elements such as
DC boost circuit, solar panel, USB port battery backup, mobile phone and Diode. Each of these
elements is required to be connected all together to implement the solar powered cell phone for
Microsoft Corporation. In these devices external chargers will be used to store sun light. The
solar panel is used to convert the solar energy into electrical energy.

The DC boost circuits are connected to the solar panels that help to increase the DC
voltage. The combination of the solar panel and the DC boost are directly connected to the
battery backup and USB port that generated heat. The UBS port can be externally used to change
the mobile phone on the other hand, THE NOKIA Lumia will be refurnished with a solar panel,
solar powered battery and solar powered screen. Theses will collectively improve the quality of
the smart mobile phones by giving Microsoft Corporation competitive advantages and
commercial benefits as well.

1.2 Justification on critical elements
The different elements those are going to be implemented in this innovation include
working solar cell, solar powered batteries; solar powered screen for phones, solar energy based
mobile phones. Each of these elements are requires to be integrated together to implement the
innovative solar powered cell phones. The customers of this cell phone will need not to carry any
external charger. Instead of external charger the solar cell can be charged from the solar power
directly. These days the use of solar power energy is widely replacing by electricity which is
costlier than any other. However, the solar cell phone is also devices which can convert the solar
light into direct photovoltaic effects. The photovoltaic effect is referred to as an electrical current
creation over a material after exposure into light. The justifications of these elements are
elaborated in the below section:
Solar cell in Nokia Lumia: Instead of normal cell phone batteries for this particular
device the Microsoft authority has to use solar powered batteries. These kinds of batteries do not
require any electric supply or external charger direct sun light can charge up theses batteries. The
small photovoltaic cells as well as modules are generally displayed in the large frames that are
directed to the sunlight. The materials used in these cell phones are silicon semiconductors. The
semiconductors can absorb direct sunlight and convert that into electric power.

Solar powered mobile phone charger: The solar powered mobile phone charger is
complied of 27 silicon solar panels those can be arranged on a similar way. A battery that is
supported by solar energy can charge twice and an i-pad in just for four hours. In order to keep
the environment completely balanced, most of the large business organizations are also giving
their focus on implementing innovative products using renewable energies instead of non
renewable energy like solar light.
1.3 Apply the framework in Microsoft Corporation
The above mentioned framework is needed to be used by Microsoft Corporation for their
Nokia Lumia 535. The other features expected to be available for this model are video calling,
enabled GPS radio as well. The other offers that are expecting from the device are effective web
access, social networking, WI FI for 3G and 4G and also enables GPS radio. The model needs to
be refurbished with a solar powered internal battery and a solar powered screen. There will be a
solar panel inside the phone which cannot be seen by the customer. Without electrical charge

working of the cell phones. This leads to ineffective performance of the devices. The main
advantage that will provided with the use of solar cell phone is that there is no need to have
electricity or any other devices for the purpose of charging.

area that is needed to be improved is the battery configuration. Once the battery gets updated it
will become easy for the organization to maintain their cell phones. Battery configuration has
affected the sales rate of Microsoft hugely and thus it is important to come up with a technology
that will enhance the working of these devices. While implementing this technology the
organization needs to focus on the battery configuration along with the processor speed.
Once the processor gets better enhancement it becomes easy to manage the working.
Moreover while re-modifying the model it is also needed to have a high resolution screen that
will provide a better dimensions towards the users. The screen offered by Lumia 535 is not vivid
and does not provide a clear screen. Thus this area needs to be focused at the time of re-
modifying the cellular phone. Moreover with the growing technology and demand in the market
it is important to work quickly and effectively. Thus there is a high need of having an effective
data speed. However the product does not offers 4G connection that leads to poor connectivity.

powered cell is the excessive cots that comes along with the initial purchase of solar energies. In
addition to this the organization also faces huge issue regarding the storage of this solar energy.

configuration that lead to draining of battery faster than the usual. The basic model of Microsoft
offers better processor along with a low battery configuration. This is the main reason behind
implementing solar energy within the device. It is considered that with the implementation of
solar energy within the cell phone it will become easy to maximize the battery life of this device.
However the main aim behind implementing solar cellular phone is to enhance the battery life.
With the enhanced battery life it will attract maximum number of users. The newly developed

battery status and once the battery is being charged fully. This will help in saving the resources

there is a huge need of refurbishing the old model. With the implementation of new system
within the model it can be stated that the working will get benefitted. The main concern that was
faced with the Microsoft Lumia is the battery configuration. The battery configuration offered by
these set is too low and also gets drained frequently. However the cost that is needed to refurbish
the phone is high and implementation of solar energy is also high.
Thus, it is important to implement an effective way that will ensure better working of the
solar energy. In addition to all this it is highly recommended to have a better processor and
screen that will offer better facilities towards the users. Apart from all this it is highly
recommended towards the organization to update their system so that they can have a better

Insufficient space has the ability to hamper the functioning of device and will also lead to major
drawbacks. Thus it becomes important to develop a better environment that will provide enough
support towards the system. The organization needs to focus on the laws before implementing
the solar panel. This will ensure proper usage of the resource irrespective of their capacity. The
device should also focus on developing better security technology that will ensure proper
protection towards the newly device. The security provided will ensure better way of working
along with an effective management of data.

From the above discussion it can be concluded that, application of renewable energy
gives high level of commercial benefits and competitive advantaged to the business
organizations. Many business organizations are there which are using different renewable
resources for designing and implementing the innovative business products. The company and
product identified for innovating this invention is Nokia Lumia 535. This product is nominated
which requires further improvement. The current model of Nokia Lumia 535 is required to be
converted in to a solar powered cell phone model to make the model much energy efficient. The
sustainable business strategies do business benefits whose result can be successfully explored
and commercially measured. Microsoft Corporation would be able to obtain commercial benefits
