1CRITICAL ANALYSISExecutive SummaryDiabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that attracts huge attention globally, owing to the rapidincrease in its prevalence. The higher prevalence of the health abnormality also contributes to anincrease in the associated healthcare costs for the patients. It also creates a burden on thehealthcare professionals and the society as a whole. Therefore, the World Health Organisationintends to increase the levels of awareness among all people on the global burden and potentialconsequences of diabetes, while focusing particularly on developing countries. Unhealthy dietpatterns, reduction in overall energy expenditure and sedentary lifestyle are the major factors thatcontribute to the higher prevalence of diabetes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This report aimsto focus onthreeinnovations (SAED, MHERQ, SANAD)that are have been implemented forimprovement of chronic disease managementand will critically discuss their effectiveness indiabetes management in the target population.

3CRITICAL ANALYSISIntroductionChronic diseases are health abnormalities that persist over a long period of time (3months)(Bauer et al. 2014).Diabetes is regarded as a chronic diseases occurring due toinefficiency of the pancreas to produce adequate insulin. The hormone insulin is responsible forconverting blood glucose. This results in an elevation in the blood sugar levels beyond thethreshold (Chiuve et al. 2012).Regardless of the geography, age and socio-economic condition, diabetes mellitus hasbecome a major health concern. The incidence rates have reached an alarming level that calls forthe need to innovate healthcare delivery solutions in this digital age. Researchers expect theyouth to get empowered with their smart phones in near future, owing to which mobile health(m-Health) innovations can be implemented to take responsibility of managing the chronic healthdisorder. Healthcare professionals and clinicians will adorn the role of advisors and navigators,in addition to acting as medical gatekeepers of the patients. This report will describe the m-Health system and application for management and prevention of diabetes.
