INTRODUCTION
Brief Overview
Innovative logistic and supply chain methods are one of the most important areas for all
the types of business. This is the area of operation where not only distribution efficiency is
determined but it also analyses customer perception of buying with regard to quality of products.
Logistic is the integral part of supply chain management. Management of supply chain is a key
element of productivity and it involves paradigm shift in working pattern of firm. For logistics
and supply chain management, innovation plays crucial role in in enhancing business operations.
Supply chain management of petroleum industry include several challenges, especially in
the area of logistic as compared to other industries. Innovation in logistic and supply chain
methods helps in managing effectiveness in business operations which helps the firm in
managing cost effectiveness in services. Logistic services are key functions of an organisation in
Mozambique. In order to improve the position of company, it is necessary for firm to implement
use of the best policies and strategies to manage smooth flow in logistic services and supply
chain. There are various methods of supply chain, in which innovation and efficiency allows
management to contract and develop strategic needs for supplier’s insurance and limitations of
liability.
Further, it builds adaptive and agile supply chain management with rapid planning and
integrated execution to optimize designing of services to manage logistics and supply chain. The
present research is based on, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, which is an American petroleum
and natural gas exploration production company. It is headquartered in two skyscrapers, that is
The Woodlands, Texas and Allison Tower and Hackett Tower The both locations are named
after former CEOs of the company. The petroleum company was founded in 1959 (Supply Chain
in the Petroleum Industry, 2017). Company deals in petroleum and natural gas gathering,
processing, treating and transportation. The logistic services and supply chain methods are very
effectively managed at Anadarko Petroleum but still it needs some improvements in its logistics
and supply chain management.

Production output of firm is about 672 thousand barrels of oil which is equivalent to
4,110,000 GJ per day. Anadarko Petroleum use software for the managing logistic whi9ch helps
the entity establishing smooth flow in services and improved productivity of supply chain. The
management of Anadarko Petroleum uses integrated technology to manage smooth flow in
supply chain, with the motive of reducing operational cost and to serve customer satisfaction.
Customers of Anadarko Petroleum are satisfied with their supply chain but still there are
improvement areas where firm needs to make changes in order to reduce waste and excessive
consumption of natural resources. In current study, aim of researcher is to determine innovation
in logistics and supply chain methods which are used for liquefied natural gas project success
within Mozambique: A case study of Anadarko Petroleum (Poulsen, Ponte and Sornn-Friese,
2018).
Literature Review
According to Rushton, Croucher and Baker. (2014), Supply chain is the sequential
process of firm which involves production and distribution of commodity. In petroleum industry,
supply chain and innovative logistic plays a crucial role because the supply of crude and petrol is
very critical process. Thus, it requires effective and active supply chain management to source
petroleum and liquefied gases. Supply chain is a broad concept, as it is focused on all the
activities that is innovation in product, sourcing, production and logistics. Further, it is important
for the petroleum industry to implements the use of information system for coordinating
activities of different department. Supply chain management in petroleum industry include
several challenges, especially in the area of logistic as compared to other industries. Hence, it can
be said that, cost of oil and its derivatives are the major challenges of logistic services in
industry.
As per the Mutlu. (2016), logistic is the backbone oil and gas company. The supply of
petroleum and liquefied gas, needs to be perfect and effective with regard to time and cost. and
Innovative logistic in natural gas exploration industry is very challenging due to economic
growth of country, because increasing global demand is impacting flow of supply chain and
logistic services. Petroleum and oil gas companies are continuously exploring new avenues to

optimize production. In petroleum industry innovation plays an imperative role for company to
attain competitive advantage.
Andersson, Christiansen and Desaulniers. (2016), stated about direct relationship
between logistic and supply chain management. As per scholar, these are the two sequential
process of petroleum industry which cannot be separated. The management of supply chain
revolves around logistics. There are numerous activities which are integral part of logistic that is
transportation, warehousing and inventory. In order to make efficient supply chain management,
it is vitally important that company should develop effective plans, with proper coordination and
control. In addition to this, packaging, handling and forecasting are also important function of
logistic. The main purpose of supply chain management and logistics services is to make
optimum utilisation of resources and increase cost effectiveness in services.
In order to supply oil, gas and petroleum to other countries, it is essential for the firm to
have strong control and management over logistic process. The entire cost structure of company
is depended in the logistics and supply chain. Innovative logistic is very effective for firm as well
as country but it raises the cost of production which results in increasing in the price of
petroleum, oil and gas. Thus, it is essential for the management to monitor and synchronise the
price and cost system effectively.
Paltrinieri, Tugnoli and Cozzani. (2015), discussed that success of liquefied natural gas
project in Mozambique was merely based on the effectiveness in supply chain plays a crucial
role. Without effective and innovative logistic service, company cannot maintain competitive
position. Ineffective supply chain and logistic services not only affect the company’s position but
it also affects the distributors and suppliers as transportation of oil and gas is not an easy task.
Company must more concerned about the internal improvement in the process which requires
involvement of internal stakeholders in order to make supply chain and logistic services
effective.

used for the success of liquefied natural gas project success in Mozambique at Anadarko
Petroleum.
 Recommend the ways for managing success of project through innovative logistic and
supply chain.

 What is the relationship between innovative logistic and supply chain which are used for
liquefied natural gas project at Mozambique in Anadarko Petroleum?
 What are the effectiveness of innovative logistics and supply chain methods that are used
for the success of liquefied natural gas project in Mozambique?
Research Methodologies
Research methodologies plays a crucial role for entire study. This is considered to be the
best way to obtain relevant solution to problem of research. It is a systematic process for
collecting and analysing the information about the topic. Research methodology is the main tool
for researcher which is used for investigation purpose. It involves various techniques and
instruments for achieving aim and objectives of research.
There are various different research methods which are used by scholar for specific
purpose such as, research design, research strategies, research approach, data collection,
sampling and data analysis. Researcher will determine use of the best tool for conducting study
on Innovative logistics and Supply chain methods which are used for liquefied natural gas
project success in Mozambique (McGregor, 2018).

Research Design- Research design is one of the most essential part of research process.
In other words, it is the strategy which is chosen by the researcher to determine multiple
elements. It is used to obtain relevant and viable result on the basis of aim and objectives. It is a
blue print that the researcher sets up with specific diagram for the organisation. There are various
types of research design such as descriptive, exploratory, experimental, etc. In this present
research proposal, scholar will use exploratory research design for determining concept of
innovative logistics and supply chain methods which are used for liquefied natural gas project
success in Mozambique (John Walker, 2014).
Research Strategies- Research strategies are the proper and well ordered plans of action
which renders a specific direction to the ideas and efforts that makes researcher to execute the
research properly. To evaluate reliable result, it is essential for the researcher to develop precise
research strategy which provides appropriate results. In order to get valuable outcomes, it is
necessary to make use of the best strategies of research. In this present research proposal,
researcher will use both qualitative and quantitative research strategies.
Research Approaches- Research approach is also one of the most essential part of the
study. It is one of the best process that help researcher to obtain the viable result. There are
mainly two types of research approaches such as inductive and deductive. Both the approaches
are the effective but in this present research study, investigator will apply deductive approach for
determining concept of innovative logistics and supply chain methods which are used for
liquefied natural gas project success in Mozambique.
Data Collection- In the entire study, data collection is crucial aspect where the focus of
researcher is on collecting and assembling relevant data about the topic. There are two methods
of collecting data that is primary and secondary. Primary data collected by the researcher with
the help of interviews, survey, etc. whereas secondary data collected from books and journals,
articles, etc. In this present research proposal, researcher will collect information from both type
of data collection methods (O'Brien, and Saldanha, 2014).
Sampling- Sampling is another essential method in research methodology. In sampling,
researcher aim at selecting group of individuals from large population. There are two type of
sampling methods that is probabilistic and non-probabilistic sampling. In this present research

proposal, scholar will collect data from 50 managers who will be random selected from
Anadarko Petroleum.
Data Analysis: Data analysis is the most critical part of the study. It is the process in
which expert analyses the data which has been collected from the necessary and optional sources
to derive feasible result with regard to research topic. In this present research proposal researcher
will use distinctive research apparatuses and strategies keeping in mind the end goal. (Takhar-
Lail and Ghorbani, 2015).
Expected Result
By conducting research on Innovative logistics and Supply chain methods which are used
for liquefied natural gas project success in Mozambique, it will be beneficial for management
and company both. Company will find new ways to supply oil and gas to various countries with
the help of innovative logistic services. This research will be useful for company to raise their
sales and make elegant position in the market by using innovative logistic and effective supply
chain methods.
