This week’s content identifies the difference between the project management
and system engineering. It has been identified that system engineering and
project management are interrelated to each other. Alike software engineering
there is a great overlapping deal.
Based on the organizational operational environment, the project manager and
portfolio manager should select the most suitable discipline standards. If the
standard relationship between the two are missed then managerial leadership is
required to be incorporated by the portfolio managers. A significant overlap
between the system engineering and project management are elaborated and
described in SEBok.
It is also learnt that for managing complex project activities the project manager
and program manager plays active roles. In order to deliver customer values and
meet the consumer expectation the program managers should deliver active
roles. The system engineering that is working on the project can effectively plan,
monitor, confront risk and deliver technical aspects associated to the project. In
order to accomplish the project work within estimated timeline and budget the
work load should be divided among the project team members based on their
skills and knowledge areas.
Apart from this, proper methodologies are also required to be followed by the
program and project associates.
