to asset rich
organisations.
The objective of this week’s topic is to explore the project justification and
contract processes.
The purpose of Brisbane Airport's New Parallel Runway is to install supporting
aviation infrastructure to enable the operations of Brisbane runway. The
contract processes in the project is considered interaction between the vendors
and purchaser to make sure that the parties can meet with obligations in the
procurement relationship.

2. Discuss the
relevance of tools
and techniques for
investigating and
describing project
process
PERT planning: It is used to identify specific project activities and project
milestones to identify start and end time of the project activities. It is used to
determine sequence of the project activities and need analysis to determine the
project performance. Weeks are used for project completion but there is
utilization of consistent unit of project time.
Gantt chart: The benefit of this chart is to understand visual display of the
project scheduled time for the project activities. It enables the project control by
promoting a proper communication. It shows actual project progress against the
planned project schedule.
Waterfall technique: It is the project management technique which is used in
construction of the runway for the airport. It is focused to make a solid plan as
well as effective execution of project work. The project requirements are being
defined at starting of the project so that it can require proper project planning.

3. Perform a cost
benefit analysis
In this engineering and construction project work, the main factor is the cost
which is required to take into account. Cost benefit analysis is taken into
account for the project factors which can provide an influence on benefits of the
cost for the project plan.
The cost benefit analysis is applied to the project with similar size along with
patters of the cash flow. It is higher cost benefit ratio to prefer. The net benefit
ratio is greater as compared to favoured project.
Each of the project work is designed at minimum cost to allow fulfilment related
to the project objectives to build new runway which was parallel to Brisbane
Airport’s existing main runway in low lying coastal area. There are economical
benefits of $5 billion a year by 2035.
