Introduction
Inspiration acts as an important element for every organization to succeed in achieving its
future goals and objectives. Organizations working towards the development of environment can
take up a various tasks such as programs of awareness, projects, education of the community as
well the young generation for making them understand the necessity to preserve and conserve the
environment and natural resources. The report deals in creating an inspiration model for
Greenhouse Foundation by evaluating the criteria of the inspiration model, The Mountain
Institute. The areas where The Mountain Institute excels have been studies and the same have
been applied in creating the inspiration model.
Greenhouse Foundation
Greenhouse Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is created to inspire, educate and
empower children to adopt a green and healthy lifestyle so that they can positively impact the
sustainability and scarcity of the available resource (ghfoundation.org, 2017). The company
serves the society by educating children about the environment, the need to preserve it and make
them realize the affect of people’s action on it. As the education about environmental
sustainability given to children, will have a great impact on the future of the planet, it is
extremely necessary to teach them how environment can be preserved. Greenhouse Foundation
takes the initiative to influence them in making decisions in future regarding environmental
preservation, which will affect their lives. The foundation goal of Greenhouse Foundation is to
create a healthier, safer and sustainable planet for the young generation and the community as a
whole. The company has developed a phased approach to all initiatives and programming. Each
phase include components of collaboration, education and implementation.

The mission of Greenhouse Foundation is to influence, educate and inspire the school-aged
children to become responsible towards communities, environment and future.
The Mountain Institute
The Mountain Institute (TMI) was founded in West Virginia in the year 1972. The
company has developed several innovative programs in world’s longest and highest mountain
chains such as Andes and Himalayas (mountain.org). TMI collaborates with people from
mountain ranges and aims to transform their lifestyles and protect their culture which would help
in conserving vital natural resources of the planet.
Missions
The mission of the Mountain Institute is to transform the lives of mountain people and
protect their ethnicity and culture and thus conserving the available natural resources of the
planet.
Inspiration Model
Every individual, group of individuals and organization needs inspiration to keep them
motivated and provides a path needs to be followed. An Inspiration model is a model which may
be a person or an organization which acts as a role model to influence the thoughts, ideas and
actions of others (Morgenroth, Ryan & Peters, 2015). For an organization, inspiration model is
considered as an organization having similar background and owning similar kind of business. It
acts as an inspiration for the other company by influencing their performance and decisions. The

Foundation.

be developed and improved and the criteria of inspiration model (The Mountain Foundation) that

Criteria of The Mountain Institute Areas of Greenhouse Foundation that needs
improvements
1. Change in the community- The Mountain
Institute focuses on serving the society and
community by working towards development of the
environment (Berkes, & Ross, 2013).
The functioning of Greenhouse Gas is focused only
on educating and inspiring children to take
initiative towards sustaining and preserving the
society (Wheeler, & Beatley, 2014). The company
can take inspiration from The Mountain Institute in
contributing towards the development of the
society considering the environmental aspects.
2. Development in rural areas- The Mountain
Institute has worked for famers in the remote
mountain areas of Nepal’s Himalaya since 2001 to
teach them to cultivate and distribute medicinal and
aromatic plants (MAPs). (Chambers, 2014).
Greenhouse Foundation, along with educating
children about environmental sustainability can
also take initiative to develop the condition of
farmers in rural areas thus reducing poverty. They
can conduct special programs at rural areas for
farmers and inspire them to cultivate and sell
various rare crops and plants. This will cater
towards environmental sustainability as well as will
increase their scope of earnings.
3. Working with communities- The Mountain The action of collaborating with community and

universities with an aim to increase their resilience

economies. They have helped local municipalities

Mountain Institute’s Exploration and science

conservation programs through integrated and
applied filed research (Hahn, & Kühnen, 2013).
They developed programs of conservation research
and applied climate change, resource materials for
higher education and public presentations.
Greenhouse Foundation can teach their students
about various ways of applied research and can
conduct programs for awareness of environmental
sustainability and development among the children
and the community.
Conclusion
Therefore, from the above discussion, it can be summed up that environmental
development and sustainability is an issue that needs to be focused on. The rising environmental
issues and threats to environment need to be addressed by every nation in an effective way by
raising awareness programs and various programs. Many such institutions and organizations
have already started to take initiative towards betterment of the environment. Greenhouse
Foundation has many opportunities to increase their efficiency in catering towards development
of environment as the community. The Mountain Institute acts an inspiration model for the
