1. Overview of the selected project
Hyderabad metro railway project is one of the largest metro railway projects in the world. It
is the largest metro railway project ever taken in India through the private public partnership mode
(Limited, Rail & Overview, 2019). Demand for seamless transportation system is rising in the urban
cities and it is difficult to achieve for various reasons. Proper management of transportation in
major developing urban cities is complex because of the continual growth that is being experienced
by the urban population, congestion, ownership of the private vehicle, and the fragility that the
public transportation systems are having (Kulshreshtha et al., 2017). These complexities and issues
are having a significant impact on the households, businesses and urban community at large which
hampers growth in the economy along with hampering the social development in a proper and also
affects the health and environment as well.
2. Analysis of the project
2.1 Demand, Projected Benefits and Stakeholder expectations
2.1.1 Demand for the project and the projected benefit(s) to stakeholders
Hyderabad, being a major technology driven city in India requires robust infrastructure for
managing traffic and associated environmental issues. Population of Hyderabad city is estimated at
around 10 million which is projected to 13.6 million within 2021. In order to address transportation
demand of the huge population, the implementation of the Hyderabad metro railway project is in
demand as it promises to deliver a fast, secure and economical transportation solution to the public.
The possibility of the Hyderabad metro railway project to offer an urban transport system that is
ecologically sustainable increase the demand for the project.
Projected benefits to the stakeholders:
Reduced cost for travel
Increase of safety for the travel
Increased connectivity (Pilaka & Nallathiga, 2015)
