Introduction
In ancient times, letters were the primary key of all the modes of communication. In
recent times, technology evolved in such a way that a message is delivered to the receiver
within a few seconds. Communication is one of the major factors behind the success of any
organization. ICT (Information and Communication Technology) deals with all digital
technology which helps businesses, organizations and individuals to communicate the data or
information. ICT deals with data in the digital form. It makes the business more effective,
efficient and help the organization to respond immediately to their client’s needs. However,
the most developed communicational technology is the email through which all the
information regarding the business are communicated. The email has developed in rapid way.
The report directly focuses on developing the online research skills and also developing the
digital communication expertise by dealing with the features and the sustainability of two
email providers. It also describes the skills required for an individual to evaluate the
resources online.
Gmail
It is a free email facility provider developed by Google to store gigabytes of messages
and provides search for some specific messages. It was developed by Paul Buchheit on April
1st, 2004 (Tariq and Arif 2014). It is available in 104 different languages and can be operated
in both mobile and computer systems platforms. It has more than 1.4 billion registered users
who communicate through this email service.

Features:
The salient features of Gmail are as follows:
 The google app side bar: Gmail comprises of a collapsible side bar on the right side
and can display multiple third-party applications like calendar and so on. This allow a
user to concentrate on his or her task and the user does not get distracted as he or she
does not need to minimize the Gmail tab every time for some purpose (Sanderson
2015).
 Confidential mode: It allows a user to set expiry date on an email message or allow
to self-destruct the messages manually. This option is highly benefitable for every
sensitive business where they deal with many important and sensitive information.

 Offline Support: Email can be used offline where a user can perform every operation
in the application except he or she cannot send or receive any email message. The
user can delete, mark, read the unread messages, can save a message as draft and so
on.
 Hover activated junks and snooze facility: Multiple message can be selected to
perform a same operation like delete, mark as read, archive and so on. This allow a
user to conserve the time and reduces the complexity. The user can snooze a message
which means that he or she can set a message to appear on the screen during his or her
defined duration like late on the same day, later that week, tomorrow, weekend or
during next week (Goodey 2013).

 Alternate views of the Inbox: Gmail provides three view of inbox namely,
comfortable, default and compact. The comfortable format contains homepage which
display few messages and it contains more white spaces. The Compact format loads
more messages as compare to the comfortable format.
 Gmail nudging feature: Gmail notifies a user if he or she has not replied to an
important message or allow the user to follow-up on a message that is delivered but
not yet replied to the user. This feature allows the user to keep update regarding any
messages or notification sent in Gmail (Muthige and Engelbrecht 2016).

 Smart reply: It contains some built-in messages which are useful to acknowledge
some messages like “Great Thanks!”, “Thank You, but I’m not interested at this
time”, “I appreciate this and will get back to you soon”.
Applications
The applications of Gmail are as follows:
 Filter the spam: Gmail filters the spam messages and block them to enter in the user’s
homepage and also allow a user to mark a message as a spam.
 The search option makes the Gmail user friendly which helps the user to locate any
desired message.
 All messages are grouped and displayed in a conversion view which allow both the
sender and receiver to keep track on the previous messages.
 It can be used as video or voice chat also which helps the people to communicate face
to face.
 Users mark some messages as star which help the user to recognize the message
instantly.
 The high storage helps the user to load many messages.

 It is secured and protected by Google.
Yahoo mail
It is an email service provider which was launched by American company Yahoo in the year
1997. It provides four types of email service- three of them are used for the personal purpose
(plus, Ad free and basic) and one is used for the business purposes. It contains more than 225
million registered users (Yin et al. 2016). Basically, it is a cyber portal which incorporates the
search engine as well as a file of World Web Sites that are organized in the hierarchy of
subject matter groups.

Features:
 Other services: It serves many other features like Yahoo answers, search engine,
yahoo messenger and group chats,
 Data storage: The data storage of yahoo mail is upto 25 GB that can be utilized
anywhere online comprising of the documents, videos and images.
 Saves data: It saves the unwanted mail data for ninety days and after ninety days it
will be automatically deleted.
 Yahoo app: Users can install the mobile version yahoo app to enjoy the features of
yahoo on their android, iOS and iPhone devices.

 Notification: Yahoo sends a notification to the user whenever someone else tries to
access the user account. It provides security to every registered account.
 Save contacts: It can save the desired contacts in itself and the users are notified
immediately regarding any important task (Shen et al. 2014).
 Yahoo calendar: This feature enables a user to save important events and dates in the
built-in calendar in the yahoo mail.
 Matrix mode: User can also convert his tabbed conversation window to a single
window by enabling the matrix mode. \The matrix mode can be enabling by pressing
“Ctrl+ Alt+ Shift+ b” (Nail et al. 2016).
 Hidden emotions: The unique feature of yahoo mail is the hidden emotions present in
the emotions menu.
 Switch mode: Users Can immediately switch between the two mailing options new
yahoo mail and yahoo mail classic. It also scans and remove any detected virus in the
program for the user to secure the system.

 Planning: User should thoroughly check the requirements so that it will be easy for
him to get relevant results from internet. user should locate the gap in his or her
knowledge so that he or she can find the missing requirements or the missing
information. If the topic is not cleared then simply search the synonym of each of the
topic. It helps the user to guess the content of the topic which allow to open the
relevant information from internet. User should be aware of the type of the
information he or she requires such as introduction, advantages, disadvantages,
difference, working principle and so on. these information types provide an accurate
content for the user’s topic (Lo et al. 2018).
 Focusing: The user should search both topic with keywords which help them to gather
new information about the topic. Keywords specifies the content of the topic. Users
should locate all the keywords regarding his or her topic. Most of the search engines
allow the user to filter the search materials, users should use this tool to specify the
requirements of the topic. The search results should be analysed thoroughly. User
should open atleast five to six pages of search results to gather information about his
or her topic.
 User should know the type of resources that he or she requires and depending on the
type he should choose the search tool. There are different search tools like library
search, Google Search and selected databases.

Therefore, from the above report it can be concluded that communication is the
primary key for any type of business growth. This enables the business to operate smoothly
and increase the productivity of the organization. The basic and important communication
tool used for business purposes is the email services. The report describes the features of two
email service providers and recommends all business to develop their business operation by
