INTRODUCTION
Intellectual Property Law refers to the legislation that deals with rules or regulations for
enforcing and securing legal rights to artistic work, inventions and designs. Same as the law
protect real estate and personal property ownership, IP law too protect an exclusive control of
non-physical or intangible assets (Ahmed and et. al. 2013). In Saudi Arabia, three governments
have authorization to protect and enforce IP rights, i.e., the Ministry of Culture and Information
for copyright, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for trademarks and King Abdulaziz City
for Science and Technology for patents.
Background of Research
Developing countries means nations having low living of standards, backward agriculture
techniques, lack of well infrastructure. Saudi Arab is the countries which sets good example of
developing countries. In these countries, there is more scope of developing new ideas, hence
intellectual property right is important and significant for creating secure environment in
country. With the help of copyright, there is less possibilities of conflict in case of use or
cheating of new innovation (Estrin, Mickiewicz & Stephan, 2013). These days use of internet is
increasing. Hence this helps to access intellectual theory and practices. In this research there is
discussion about different intellectual property right theory, laws, practices, etc. There is
discussion about different theories of intellectual property right, important of intellectual
property laws in Saudi Arab and importance of Intellectual property in social and economic of
developing nations.

Research means to investigate about subject and organise data in systematic manner. This
also provides concision on subject matter. In this research there is discussion about intellectual
property, laws, theory and practices in Saudi Arab. Intellectual Property right is defined as the
right that can be secured under state and federal law, involving copyrightable works, discoveries,
inventions and ideas (Boddewyn, 2015). It is related to intangible property like trademarks,
trade secrets, patents and copyrights. Research is important because it provides complete
knowledge about subject matter with conclusive and exploratory approach. Before intellectual
property right, there was no such activities of registration of intangible asset in order to protect
