INTELLIGENT TRAFFIC LIGHTS CONTROLLERS Objectives(i)To design an intelligent traffic light controller with three operating modes as regular mode, pedestrian mode, and night mode. (ii)To design the regular mode with three lights changing at different time settings.(iii)To design the pedestrian mode using SRF05 ultrasonic range finders to detect proximity of any object.(iv)To design the night mode using the light dependent resistor and lights to determine how much light falls on the TLC.OVERVIEWThe system uses Arduino Atmega 1280 as it provides more ports in case the designer wishes to add morecomponents. The first step was to set up a simulation on Proteus 8 Professional to see how the systemruns before designing it on the live Arduino microcontroller. The intelligent traffic light controller firstchecks for any other modes before running the regular mode. The system uses the ultrasonic range finderto determine if there is a pedestrian or object close by before changing the lights accordingly. The Redlight is activated to stop the motorists and allow pedestrians to cross. For the night mode, the systemworks hand in hand with the ultrasonic Range Finder. The system will alert motorists at night ofoncoming pedestrians or objects to avoid accidents. The system is linked to a buzzer that caters for theblind who may not see the change of lights. The intelligent TLC can be embedded in gadget to run thethree modes interactively[ CITATION Ult18 \l 1033 ].
