INTRODUCTION International business expansion has crated an effective impact ion the growth anddevelopment opportunities of the business. For attaining success in the field companies need tobalance their strategies with effective planning and development process (Dirani, 2013).International growth and development demands in-depth analysis of social and cultural factors ofthe country in order to efficiently evaluate the needs of consumers and estimating their demandsas well. The present study focuses on expansion strategy adopted by Sainsbury plc in Egypt andthe story which led to its failure after initial growth in the new economy. The study will attemptto analyse the cultural factors and its impact on the business growth and will also evaluate thepossible measures that could be adopted by the company now to minimize loss for the business. 1 Explaining cultural difference between UK and EgyptCulture is a combine term used to define the beliefs, attitude, thinking, perception andvalue system of the people. This term provides a social reflection of the country and its peopleand develop an effective understanding about the same for organizations as well. An effective adclear understanding about the culture may helps the business to enhance high and effectivegrowth aspects within the market (Alvesson, 2012). Culture is a strong social science tool whichhelps the business in developing effective understanding about the behavioural aspects andconsumer demands of people residing in the country. Culture of Egypt is widely different from that of UK. To understand the culturaldifference of the two countries Hofstede model will be applied in the study.
