In recent time, high street shops face many issues or challenges which may put negative
impact on their business as well as society. The main reason behind these problems is changing
preferences of consumers regarding product or service purchase. Instead of purchasing goods
from high street outlets, shoppers prefer to travel to big malls or supermarkets to buy items
according to their needs, expectations and family demand.
This is a form of negative development for society to a great. For example, when people
start purchasing from large shopping centre, they may affect growth of small shops who
contribute to economic progress and development (Szymkowiak and et.al., 2021). In term of
consequence, it may play vital role for society in term of adopting new habits and changing
needs as well as behaviour according to current circumstance. Furthermore, there are varied
factors accessible in the world of business that has contributed to continuous this behaviour
among buyers for example, Pandemic. In UK, many retail stores have been closed due to
changing consumer behaviour in the context of products purchasing. Just because of health
concerns and hygienic factors, individual buyer prefers to purchase goods from large shopping
centres, which effect stress shops business growth and success negatively. COVID-19 also give
reason to people to do so, which also affect in same manner in term of decreasing sales and
profits margin. It is obvious that this kind of nature may put negative impact on society
development. Services that large shopping malls has been provided to consumers are incredible,
and unexpected, they consider needs relate to hygiene, products quality and quantity and because
of these things people prefer to travel and reach at these kinds of places (Loxton and et.al.,
2020).
Pandemic is one of those factors that have changed the buying behaviour and decision-
making process of individual person. Everyone thinks twice before purchasing any item from
local stores, just because of this factor. This kind of behaviour is considered as negative
development for society. When shoppers visit to large shopping places, they may affect sales of
high stress shops and their jobs opportunities which each shop offer to local people. High street
outlets operated in retail sector, which known as the biggest employer in the world because they
offer the huge amount of employment chances to people who are unable to live their lives
