This study aims to identify risk factors for urinary tract infection (UTI) in home care patients in Taiwan. The study found that urinary catheter indwelling, underlying diseases (coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease, diabetes mellitus), polypharmacy, and lower Barthel index scores were all related to UTI. The study suggests that avoiding prolonged urinary catheter placement, unnecessary prescriptions, and maintaining good nutritional status may help prevent UTI in home care patients.
