In 2005, Oil & Gas Company PLC (“OG” hereafter) obtained exploration permit from government of Whiteland for an oilfield called Greenfield, located in the Whiteland. Greenfield is populated by indigenous people, who were not consulted by the government of Whiteland before issuance of exploration permit. OG is a Richland-registered company, whose 91% shares are owned by Whiteland citizens and 9% - by Richland citizens. In 2006, local settlors (indigenous people) organized several massive demonstrations due to environmental contamination issues and their forced resettlement from certain land plots and attacked the OG workers physically several times.
