Brexit – What is it?
Brexit is a term that is coined to signify that the United Kingdom is leaving the European
Union1.
European Union (EU) – What is it?
The European Union is an union that includes 28 nations of the continent of Europe. This
Union was created to cater to the political and economic interests of these nations. It
systematizes the freedom of any individual to be involved in the trade and to move from place to
place in whichever nation they choose. The individuals are also provided the freedom to work
and live in these nations. When the EU was still called the European Economic Community, at
that time in the year 1973, the United Kingdom (UK) became a member of the Community. The
UK became the first member of the EU to resign as being a member of the Union2.
The Reason – Why UK was about to leave?
The vote of the public of the UK, at 52% to 48% leave, decided the fate of UK as not a
member of the European Member anymore. Around 17.1 million of the populace of UK chose in
favor of the Brexit3.
