Topic: An investigation to analyze the impact of internationalizing health care facilities business:
A study of the health care sector in the United Kingdom.
INTRODUCTION
One of the many goals of any organization is to expand its business internationally across
different geographic locations (Alessandri, Cerrato and Eddleston, 2018). And in order to do so,
they adopt various measures and constantly innovate their products as well as services. This
helps in attracting a greater number of customers and also generate awareness among them. The
health care sector in the United Kingdom is huge with a lot of organizations operating within it
(Akoto and Akoto, 2018). They offer services related to different health issues for people
belonging to different age groups. Advancements within the health care sector have improved the
overall delivery of various health care services as well as increasing the overall efficiency.
Besides this, companies in the health care sector are partnering with the other companies within
the industry so that the resources can be utilized in a more efficient manner. this not only helps in
saving costs, but also improves the overall delivery of services to the citizens of the nation. Apart
from this, the overall needs of the people related to their health are also satisfied. As a result, the
overall health of the public is maintained. Companies that operate at a large scale have
operations across different parts of the world. Health care organizations that operate
internationally have to understand the different health care needs of the people.
This is important and can help them in providing a better experience to the people. The
respective dissertation is based on Mapledown School, which is a school for students who have
complex and severe learning difficulties. The students at the school have a diverse range of
needs. And thus, the overall focus of the school is on working together to address the needs of
such students and promote learning. The school has a complete-time Nurse and a nurse assistant,
and students have gotten admission to an integrated carrier supplied via Speech and Language
Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Pediatricians, Dietician, Social
Services and professional peripatetic instructors as required (e.g. Visual or Hearing Impairment).
The college is a registered ‘Regional Training Centre’ for the MOVE Programme – this is a
faculty extensive gadget for assessing and selling bodily independence abilities. Mapledown is
positioned close to a mainstream secondary school and a number of our students attend included
instructions there or use their school facilities – e.g., Technology room, sports corridor, library

Literature Review
Impact of internationalizing on the performance of a health care facilities business
Internationalization can refer to the different steps that are taken by an organization in
order to capture a greater share of market in the industry. Apart from this, another reason behind
an organization to go international is to increase its overall profitability as well as reach out to a
greater number of people and thus, increase its footprint (Cooke, 2018). International business
also increases opposition in home markets and introduces new possibilities to overseas markets.
Global opposition encourages companies to become more innovative and greener in their use of
sources. For purchasers, worldwide commercial enterprise introduces them to a ramification of
products and services.
It can be said that the overall impact of internationalization on the performance of a
health care business can either be positive or negative. The greater the degree of
internationalization of a firm, the greater is its overall performance. The company is able to
perform in an effective manner and there is an increase in the overall profitability of the firm as
well. it is important to take into account the different potential risks that can affect the firm.
These can include changes in the economy, political stability, environmental or technological
changes. All of these changes can affect the performance of the firm to a great extent. It can be
said that performance of the company be improved if it analyzes as well as effectively utilizes
the resources that are available in other countries. Besides this, in order to reduce any negative
impact, the company can develop new technologies that can help it in determining the potential
impact of certain factors.
Companies are seeking for internationalization strategies for numerous motives: to
generate economies of scale, to reap efficient use of resources, to enlarge and diversify the
marketplace, or to manipulate political and economic dangers. Besides that, companies can
amplify to different international locations searching for a market with final purchasers, herbal
resources, understanding, performance, global fee consolidation and geopolitical influence (De
Noni, Orsi and Zanderighi, 2019). From this perspective of innovation, exploratory capability for
price introduction is a essential detail of international enterprise studies, as the competencies
acquired by way of organizations via the collaboration of worldwide networks definitely impact

on hanging a balance between soaking up key aggressive blessings inside the marketplace, whilst
integrating the great of neighborhood resources and aggressive occasions to leverage those
middle skills for maximum strategic effectiveness. Such understandings show the relevance of
internationalization to company overall performance. There are different internationalizing
strategies that can be adopted by an organization. For example, the company can opt for
franchising or build a joint venture in another country, Romania in this case. This can help in
saving unnecessary expenses.
Latest trends in the health care sector of Romania
The healthcare sector in Romania is mainly dominated by the public sector wherein most
of the hospitals are owned by the public sector. And also, almost of the Romanian citizens
receive national health insurance (do Nascimento, 2017). The public healthcare system in the
respective country includes health insurances that cover almost all of the Romanian citizens. The
market in the country for medical devices, dental products as well as diagnostic equipment have
excellent potential for growth. This can be beneficial for the respective company Mapledown
School as it will be able to serve the healthcare needs of the people in an effective manner. but
currently, the balance between the employed as well as unemployed people in the health care
sector is less. Due to this, it can be a little difficult for the firm to internationalize its operations.
Also, currently, the health care sector of the country has a good distribution system.
Also, the country has a high need of hospitalization which means that there is a need for
providing effective services to the citizens (Weerawardena and et.al., 2020). This is because
different people have different healthcare needs and therefore, it is important to take the same
into account. Also, the country is adopting latest technology in order to provide a seamless
experience to the citizens (Hejazi Kenari, 2019). But there are also certain people who have
special health care needs as compared to other people. Artificial intelligence is also one of the
latest trends in the Romania. Apart from this, there are virtual reality as well as augmented
reality are also some of the important trends in the country.
Challenges faced by an organization while internationalizing its business
As per the view point of Katie Reynolds, there can be certain challenges that the
company can face while internationalizing its business (11 Biggest Challenges of International
Business in 2017, 2017). For example, there can be certain economic as well as political
integrating the great of neighborhood resources and aggressive occasions to leverage those

instability of the country and therefore, the overall performance of Mapledown School can be
affected to a great extent. The prices of the medications can also vary and therefore, this can
affect the services to a great extent. Advancements in technology have also affected the delivery
of health care services to a great extent. Therefore, it can be said that the different challenges can
affect the overall delivery of the health care services. Payment method is another challenge that
the company can face while internationalizing its business in Romania. Therefore, it is important
for the company to analyze the different challenges beforehand so that their overall impact can
be eliminated.
The payment options in the country can be different from those in the United Kingdom
and therefore, this can cause problems in transactions (Hudson and Hinman, 2017). Apart from
this, language is also one of the challenges that is important that the company hires health care
professionals, who are able to speak the roman language. Any fluctuation in the currency rates is
another challenge along with a lack of communication among the healthcare professionals as
well as the people who need health care services. There is a huge cultural difference between the
United Kingdom as well as Romania. Thus, this can possibly affect the overall function of the
Mapledown School to a great extent. Availability of labor and raw materials is a factor that has
to be taken into account because otherwise, the organization will not be able to provide
appropriate health care services to the people (Sun and et.al., 2020). Therefore, it can be said that
the organization should analyze the different challenges in the country that it is planning to
internationalize in. this will not only provide a glance at the different challenges, but also the
different possibilities and opportunities as well. the environmental issues are increasing day by
day.
Factors that can affect the delivery of health care services
There can be certain factors that can affect the overall delivery of healthcare services in a
country. Firstly, the main factors that can affect the health care service delivery can include
differences in the culture of the two places. Apart from this, language can affect the same and the
availability of the medica supplies is another factor that has to be taken into account. Health care
services are planned taking into account the health care needs of the people. The level of patient
cooperation can also affect or influence the overall delivery of the service (Iizuka and Ikeda,
2019). This is because if the patients will not be cooperating enough, the service that will be
affected to a great extent. The prices of the medications can also vary and therefore, this can
affect the services to a great extent. Advancements in technology have also affected the delivery
of health care services to a great extent. Therefore, it can be said that the different challenges can

intended to be. The knowledge as well as skills of the physician is another factor that can
particular impact not only the delivery of services, but also the overall health of the person.
Random event can affect the overall health of the person if their health needs are different from
others.
Income level of the patients as well as the people living in the country can have a
significant impact on the overall delivery of health services. It is important for the government of
a country to make sure that the people have access to the different health services. Therefore, it is
important to make sure that people receive appropriate health care services as required. In order
to ensure this, community engagement as well as different social norms should be promoted
(Kiggundu and Pal, 2018). Therefore, it can be said that the health care sector can be influenced

particular impact not only the delivery of services, but also the overall health of the person.
Therefore, it can be said that the health care sector can be influenced
by various factors and it is important to identify these factors and adopt appropriate measures
accordingly. this will improve the overall delivery of health care services to the people and also
ensure that they live a healthy as well as positive life.

Methodology
Research methodology is an important component of a study and is the specific
techniques or strategies used to perceive, choose, procedure, and examine statistics
approximately a topic (Lynn, Gailey and Buller, 2018). In a studies paper, the method section
lets in the reader to significantly evaluate a researcher’s usual validity and reliability.
Research Philosophy – It can be defined as a set of beliefs regarding how the research
should be structured or data should be collected. There are different types of research
philosophies such as positivism, pragmatism as well as interpretivism (Lynn, Gailey and Buller,
2018). In context of the respective research, the researcher has used interpretivism in order to
ensure that the research is conducted in an effective manner. the rationale behind choosing this
research philosophy is that it is simple and straight forward. Also, the interviewer will get the
information that he/she needs easily.
Research Approach – Research approach is also an important component of the research
and can be defined as the plans as well as procedures that are used in the research for data
collection, analysis as well as interpretation (Sharma and et.al., 2020). There are two types of
research approaches, inductive as well as deductive. In the respective research, the researcher has
used deductive research approach to conduct the research in an effective manner. This research
approach has been used because it will allow the researcher to explain interrelationship between
two variables. In context to this research, the two variables are performance as well as
internationalization.
Research Strategy – Research strategy can be defined as an overall plan for conducting
a research. It guides the researcher in the process of planning, executing as well as monitoring
the study. In the respective study, the researcher has used case study research strategy (Matsheke
and Dhurup, 2017). This is because a case study research strategy as this will help the researcher
in obtaining appropriate conclusions for this research. Mapledown School has been chosen for
studying the case of people with special health needs.
Research Design – It refers to the overall strategy that is used for the research. The
research design explains the type of research. In context to the respective research, the researcher
will ask questions that are based on the research topic (Matsheke and Dhurup, 2017). In order to

collect the data for the research, the researcher asked both close as well as open ended questions
to the respondents. And it took approximately 2 weeks to collect the required data.
Primary data – There are different ways in which data can be collected for the research.
Primary data refers to the first-hand data which is collected from the respondents directly and is
reliable (Nona and et.al., 2019). There are different ways of collecting primary data such as
questionnaire, interviews, surveys etc. Primary statistics is a type of data this is amassed through
researchers without delay from main resources via interviews, surveys, experiments, and so
forth. Some not unusual advantages of number one data are its authenticity, particular nature, and
updated records even as secondary statistics is very cheap and no longer time-ingesting (Nona
and et.al., 2019). Primary statistics may be very reliable because it is usually objective and
amassed at once from the original source. In the respective research, the researcher has used both
primary as well as secondary data to obtain relevant information. A questionnaire has been used
to gather primary information from the respondents.
Secondary Data – This is another type of data that can also be used by the researcher.
There are different sources that the researcher can refer to in order to collect secondary data.
These can include books, journals, diaries, reports as well as online websites (Sharma and et.al.,
2020). One of the many advantages of using secondary data in a research is that it helps the
researcher in saving a lot of time as well as costs. Also, the researcher can tailor the information
as per the requirements of the research. In context to this research, the researcher has used
secondary data to ensure that the results obtained are reliable. The secondary statistics sources
are very clean to get admission to. The Internet has modified the way secondary studies works
(Singh and Hong, 2017). The majority of secondary resources are honestly loose to be used or at
very low costs. It saves now not handiest your cash however your efforts. In assessment with
primary research in which you need to layout and conduct an entire number one observe

acquainted with the unique information collection methods. Practically, all of us can accumulate
it. In order to collect secondary data, the researcher has referred to different books, articles as

Sampling – It can be defined as selecting a pre-determined number of observations from
a large population. Sampling is an important part of the research because it helps the researcher

to obtain useful insights about the population. There are two types of sampling, probabilistic as
well as non-probabilistic. Sampling saves cost by means of allowing researchers to acquire the
equal answers from a sample that they could obtain from the population. Non-random sampling
is significantly cheaper than random sampling, as it lowers the value related to finding humans
and accumulating records from them. In context to this research, the researcher has used non-
probabilistic sampling method and the sampling size is 50 respondents. The researcher has
ensured that the sample represents that features of the target customers (Singh and Srivastava,
2018). Snowball sampling method has been used in this research. Snowball sampling method,
which is a type of non-probabilistic type of sampling wherein the samples have rare traits that are
not found easily. Snowball sampling technique has been used for this research because the
sample comprises of respondents with special health care needs. Therefore, this type of sampling
will help the researcher in obtaining appropriate results. In order to reach the participant, the
researcher approached the stakeholders of the Mapledown School and contacts of people with
working for the school were asked. The participants with whom consent were obtained were
asked to refer other people from their network.
Questionnaire – It can be defined as a research instrument that is commonly used in
research in order to collect data from the respondents. A questionnaire comprises of a series of
questions that are based on the research topic. This helps the researcher in obtaining appropriate
as well as accurate information from the respondents. Questionnaires offer a fairly reasonably-
priced, quick and green manner of obtaining big quantities of information from a large pattern of
human beings. Data can be gathered distinctly quickly because the researcher could no longer
need to be present while the questionnaires were completed (Trinh and Conner, 2019).
Questionnaires usually consist of open-ended questions, closed ended questions, or a
combination of both. This permits researchers to accumulate statistics this is qualitative and
quantitative in nature depending on their needs. A questionnaire has been used in order to gather
information from the respondents to complete this research. A questionnaire is the best choice
for the respective research because it will allow the researcher to obtain first-hand and reliable
data from the respondents. Also, the time as well as cost involved in the analysis of data is also
very low. For the respective research, the questionnaire will comprise of both open as well as

Data Analysis – Data analysis is another important aspect within a research and involves
the researcher analyzing the different data that has been collected. Data Analysis is the system of
systematically making use of statistical and/or logical techniques to describe and illustrate,
condense and recap, and examine facts. There are some of issues that researchers should be
cognizant of with recognize to records analysis (Tuzikov and et.al., 2019). These consist of:
Having the vital abilties to research. Data evaluation is what helps agencies determine their
positions inside the market relative to competition. Data analysis is critical in business to
understand problems going through a corporation, and to discover information in meaningful
methods. Data in itself is simply information and figures. Data analysis organizes, interprets,
systems and gives the facts into beneficial facts that provides context for the statistics. In context
to this research, the researcher has focused on the data analysis part and made sure that it is
analyzed in an effective manner. Descriptive data analysis has been used in the respective
research. Descriptive analysis will help the researcher in describing the basic data of the study
effectively.
Ethical Consideration – Ethical considerations can be said to be one of the most
important parts of the research. In context of the respective research, the researcher has ensured
that the participants were not subjected to any kind of harm. Also, informed consent was
obtained by the researcher from all the respondents.
Limitations of research – There were some limitations of the research that were
identified. For instance, there were time as well as budget constraints, due to which the outcomes
of the research hot affected (Zahra, 2021). Besides this. There were some participants who did
not show interest in participating in answering the questions.

Therefore, the company is recommended to ensure that its business objectives are in line with the
current health care needs of the people in Romania. This can be helpful in increasing the overall
profitability as well as performance of the firm. Health needs among people vary from each other
and by providing effective services, a company can improve or enhance the overall health of the
people. The different challenges within the health care sector can impact the overall delivery of
services. Income level of patients, their education level, the level of patient cooperation etc. can
affect the overall delivery of health care to the people. Therefore, these are some of the
recommendations as well as conclusions that can be made on the completion of the research. It
can also be concluded that different trends can also affect the overall delivery of services. If the
respective company, Mapledown School adopts as well as implements the recommendations that
are mentioned above, it will be able to gain a competitive advantage in Romania. This s because
the current health care system of the nation is inefficient as well as ineffective. Thus, it will be of
help to the company in enhancing its brand image in the market of Romania.
