It presents a detailed analysis of ten prominent IoT devices, including Logitech Harmony Elite, Tend Secure Lynx Indoor, Smart Lock Home Kit, Nest Cam Outdoor, and ADT Pulse. Introduction
The Internet of Things (IoT) has a lot to offer and the innovation can help individuals
to lead a luxurious life, the IoT security solutions also help to cater security and privacy with
which the family members can stay and live peacefully at home, the employees in the office
can work steadily and efficiently.
The report will grandstand ten IoT devices and along with that the uses of those
devices, the security and privacy will be elaborately discussed in the report.

The floor design of IOT above shows the temperature sensor, wireless Wi-Fi sensor,
LED light sensor, smart lock home kit, smart washing machine sensor and much more. All
these IoT devices can enhance the smartness of home adding quality to life and security.
Internet of Things Devices
1. Amazon Alexa and Amazon Echo Dot
Amazon Alexa is a smart device that provides various kinds of utilities like one can
acquire information about the latest news, weather updates and also useful for setting alarms.
One can establish a connection to the Alexa device to play music. Alexa is useful to control
the smart appliances within the room (Edwards, Edwards & Dot, 2016). Amazon Echo acts as
a listener, it listens, detects voice and operates as per owner's commands.
Issue
The device face problems recognizing users’ voice or accent or the language they
speak.
a. Usage: Alexa has a speaker incorporated within that only works on the owners’
command.
b. Control: The Echo Dot is responsible to link with the smart devices available at
home and is controlled by owners' voice.
c. Connectivity: The devices are linked via Bluetooth.
d. Security: The owners can switch off the device whenever they want to, in this way
they can hide they do not want to share as Echo records whatever it listens all the time.
e. Privacy: Anyone can protect their privacy simply by switching off the Echo Dot.

2. Wink Hub 2
Wink Hub 2 primarily works with Lutron Clear Connect, Z-Wave, Kidde and
Bluetooth (Fuenmayor & Wink, 2016). This device has the capability to make one’s home
smart with all the innovative IoT features.
Issue
The device faces problems while it tries to link with Z-Link.
a. Usage: The IoT device works with Kidde, Z-Wave and Wi-Fi and also on top it
provides IoT features
b. Control: Incorporating with Netgear Arlo Camera and Philips Light hue it has the
make one’s home smart.
c. Security: Bring in security features to 1 flashing Light accompanied with Siren, 1
Motion Detector and 3 Door-Window Sensors.
d. Connectivity: The IoT device can be operated even in the absence of the Internet.
e. Privacy: The privacy can be attained by ensuring window security.
3. Logitech harmony Elite
The device is used to control the remote-controlled device, in this case, the stereo and
TV can be controlled by this device (Corcoran, 2016).
Issue
It does not comply with Amazon Instant Video App.
a. Usage: it switches and control devices like TV.
b. Control: Can control and regulate all the IoT devices.

c. Connectivity: It has Bluetooth incorporated within and uses the Bluetooth to stay
connected to the remote-controlled device.
d. Security: The infrared devices are provided with the security by Logitech harmony
Device.
e. Privacy: The security, as well as the privacy features, can be acquired by this
device.
4. Smart Lock Home Kit
The Smart Lock Home Kit is applied to lock doors digitally and this device is based
on IoT (Fernandes et al., 2017).
Issue
It does not configure the smartphone applications.
a. Usage: The smart lock home kit is applied to lock.
b. Control: It can govern the digital door locks with the assistance of deadbolt switch.
c. Connectivity: It needs to be connected to an Internet connection to work.
d. Security: It caters security at the doorstep.
e. Privacy: The authorized users only can gain access due to this smart lock home kit.
5. ADT Pulse
ADT Pulse is another lock system and is totally depends on IoT (Asgari et al., 2017).
Issue
The messages that it gets are non-recognizable.

a. Usage: ADT pulse caters solutions for the home locks.
b. Control: The thermostat gets controlled by ADT Pulse.
c. Connectivity: The specific controls are there which ADT Pulse is connected.
d. Security: Caters security features to all the smart devices, to all the IoT devices.
e. Privacy: Due to this locking door facility, privacy can be guaranteed as it will
restrict the unauthorized users.
6. Tend secure Lynx Indoor
Tend secure Lynx is a smart camera based on cloud technology (Zhang, Chen &
Wang, 2016). It captures video having a resolution of 1080 pixel and with this camera also
take pictures at night.
Issue
The device while connected to Internet faces various kinds of problems.
a. Usage: The mentioned device is a surveillance camera and it captures photo having
1080 pixel and also take pictures at night.
b. Control: The individuals who enter or goes out of home can be controlled via this
camera.
c. Security: The camera can predict who is entering or who is going out thus ensures
security.
d. Connectivity: This camera is linked to network or Internet to get the productivity.

e. Privacy: The individuals can keep an eye on their house who is entering and who is
going out. The cameras are installed in the office premises to find out any unscrupulous
activities happening.
7. Nest Cam outdoor
The camera is based on IoT technology and this device works similar to Tend Secure
Lynx Indoor (Ott & Hagedorn, 2016). It transmits video via wireless Wi-Fi network
connectivity, along with that it provides the notification alert.
Issue
There are some issues regarding Internet connection.
a. Usage: It is operated both inside and outside of the house or office premises.
b. Control: The camera takes pictures, record videos and transmit videos, send alert
signals.
c. Connectivity: The camera needs to be connected to the internet or better say
wireless network connectivity to operate on.
d. Security: The family members of the home can get enhanced security due to this
camera.
e. Privacy: Along with the security the camera also provides the privacy features, thus
the family members can be assured of their safety.
8. LG Smart Wireless Security Camera
LG Smart Wireless Security Camera also keeps an eye on the activities carried out
inside the house premises and outside the house. The managers install this camera in their
office premises to monitor the activities of the employees from time to time (Gharaibeh et al.,

2017). Also, this camera is installed in the home to identify any unscrupulous activities
carried out inside the home.
Issue
The IP Security camera does not get configured with LG Smart Wireless Security
Camera.
a. Usage: The camera's main function is to protect and secure by keeping a constant
eye both inside and outside of the house.
b. Control: The camera is commanded by remote.
c. Connectivity: The IoT device needs to be connected to Wi-Fi wireless online net
connectivity.
d. Security: The camera provides security both at the office and at home.
e. Privacy: The Security Camera offers privacy to both home and office premises to
the family members and the office employees.
9. Adobe Home Security Starter Kit
The Adobe Security Kit is self-monitoring protection system (Kor et al., 2016). It
along with Z-Wave, ZigBee enhances the smartness of a home by applying digital locks and
IoT based switches and lights. It works well with Amazon Alexa.
Issue
It is ponderous in nature and often do not go well with the mobile apps.
a. Usage: The Adobe Security Key along with Z-Wave, ZigBee embellish the
lifestyle quality as well as the security of the home.

b. Control: The IoT based switches and lights and digital locks are controlled by
Adobe Security Key.
c. Connectivity: It works while it is not even linked to the Internet as well.
d. Security: The home is provided with the security.
e. Privacy: The privacy along with the security can be gained both at the same time.
10. Netgear Arlo Pro
Netgear Arlo Pro is a weatherproof device that consists of two-way audio and sound
recording facility (Habibi et al., 20117). The latest feature incorporated within the device is
USB connectivity via which video can be recorded. Moreover, the battery of the device is
rechargeable.
Issue
The Netgear Arlo Pro does not function at a distant location or long distance
a. Usage: The device can be applied to take recordings of the surroundings of home.
b. Control: This IoT device is governed via a remote device.
c. Connectivity: This IoT device needs to be connected to online net connectivity to
get the better throughput.
d. Security: The device can keep track of those individuals entering into and going
out of the home, thus catering better security.
e. Privacy: The privacy assures that no intruders can enter the house.

Conclusion
It can be concluded from the above discourse that IoT devices discussed in the report
can make a dramatic change in one's life. The Smart Lock Home Kit, Tend Secure lynx
Indoor is a really effective device to offer security and privacy thus the family members can
stay and live peacefully at home. The devices' potentiality can be embellished connecting it to
the Internet, because of these advanced features the employees of the companies can be
benefitted and they can work in the agile and effective way thus throughput is bound to
increase. The uses and the security features have been detailed in the report.
