Interpersonal relationship1IntroductionInterpersonal relationships form a very important part of everyone’s life. It is largely difficult to survive in this current competitive and difficult life without having a good number of interpersonal relationships. Interpersonal relationships of an individual provide people with a sense of trust, security, love, affection and dependency (Berscheid & Regan, 453). These relationships also form an individual’s support system and help people in dealing with various life problems. This part of the journal throws light on a particular relationship that exists betweentwo of my friends. Both of them have been romantically involved with each other since the last three years. For the sake of privacy, their names have not been disclosed and they have been allotted fake names. These names are John and Mary. Through the interview, I asked them various questions which helped me understand different stages of their relationship and also assisted me in gaining a deeper insight about how their relationship has evolved over time.The beginningWhen I asked about the beginning of their relationship, John and Mary confessed that they met each other in college as they were classmates. John had a little crush on Mary from the moment he saw her. He started putting efforts in engaging her in small talk about certain common subjects and courses. In the course of these conversations, Mary found John really smart and intelligent. Soon they started spending more time together by talking over the phone and having lunch in the college together. One Friday night, John asked Mary out for dinner. To which, she happily agreed. By now, Mary also had started developing feelings for John. She got dressed well for the evening and both of them had a great time together. They consumed enough alcohol to confess their feelings towards each other. Mary says, it was one of the best phases of her life. IntimacySoon they both got physically intimate with each other which further strengthened their relationship. Mary accepted that John made her feel very comfortable. They believe that they love each other so much that often words fail to express the sense of passion and love that they
