INTRANETS2Question 1: Explain why Intranets fail. What procedures are needed to prevent the failure? There are primarily four reasons for the failure of Intranets. The reasons and theirrespective remedies are discussed below:The user’s needs of the Intranet are not given enough attention. The Intranet is mainlydesigned around the functions that the management of the organizations deem fit for use. However, there might be times where the user might need a certain database to completehis work. In that case, a team is needed during the development phase of the Intranet(Devu & Katta, 2016). The responsibility of this team would be to interview and surveyemployees of different sections of the company to develop an Intranet that wouldincorporate all the tools necessary for increased productivity. The Intranet may sometimes contain outdated information because there might not be anyemployee who are given the responsibility to update the information regularly(Tredinnick, 2014). The company database is the only authentic source of its guidelinesand documents that are only available to its employees. These databases of outdatedinformation needs to be updated on a timely basis otherwise, the Intranet will not serve itspurpose in the company. Outdated company policies will create a problem for theemployees of the company. The Intranet might contain some complex functional tools that some of the employeesmight find it hard to use. This type of incident happens with people who are either newrecruits or they lack knowledge of computers. This scenario can be effectively handled byproviding them with proper training on utilization of the Intranet of the company(Tredinnick, 2014).
