INTRODUCTION A process of dealing with things and people is known as management. This study is based on Sainsbury’s, second largest chain of supermarkets in the UK (Radovic Markovic and Salamzadeh, 2018). This study is going to discuss different functions of business and ways in which marketing department can accomplish goals by communicating with other departments. Further, it will discuss all management functions such as planning, organizing and others. HR department also plays a vital role in managing talent and retaining skilled employees and this study will discuss its roles in a detailed manner. MAIN BODY Different forms and functions of business There are number of business functions that need to be performed by employees in order to accomplish goals and satisfying customers. Some common forms and functions of business include: Human resources:It is one of the main departments that perform number of functions with the main aim of retaining skilled employees with business (Cristiani and Peiró, 2018). Some important functions that are being performed by this department include: attracting and recruiting employees, motivating employees, training to employees, rewards to them and retaining them within business for the long run. Marketing:Marketing is other form of organisation that also performs number of functions. Some functions that help company in accomplishing its goals include: promotion of goods and services of company, gathering customers needs and information, influencing them for buying products and increasing sales. Purchasing:It is highly important function in manufacturing organization. This department help companiesin increasingefficiencyof work by purchasing rawmaterialsin an effective qualitative manner. Organization’s success mainly relies on the quality of products and company can manufacture products in a qualitative manner when it has qualitative raw materials. So, in this context, it can be said that this department plays a vital role. Accounting: Accounting department is being hired for performing important professional functions (Wenjiao, Chao and Daiguo, 2017). Chief accountant of this department is responsible 3
for conducting financing, costing, budgeting and accounting activities. It makes sure that funding is allotted appropriately and it protects companies from bed debts and other financial loss. Planning and controlling:It is one of the most important as well as difficult functions in business undertaking. It is concerned with determination of policies for plants. All departments rely on this function as on the basis of planning, other department can perform their functions in an effective manner. Overall, it can be said that businesses need to perform number of functions. How marketing works with other business functions for the success of organisation (340) Marketing is one of the main important departments of organizations as it is responsible for promoting products and services of companies and motivating customers for buying them. Overall, it can be said that marketing department performs number of functions and help organization in accomplishing goals. It can perform its functions by interacting or working with otherdepartment.Relationshipofthisdepartmentwithotherorganizationaldepartments includes: Marketing and sales: Marketing needs to communicate and collaborate closely with sales department. Marketing department collects information of customers regarding their needs and others. Sales department needs to provide qualitative products to customers and it is possible only when it has detailed information of customers (Vaid, Ahearne and Krause, 2020). Different customershavedifferentneedsandbycommunicatingwithmarketingdepartment,sales department can increase sales and can provide qualitative products to customers as per their needs or information, collected by marketing department. Marketing and finance: Finance department is responsible and ensure timely provision of funds for business’s operations. In regard to Sainsbury, it can be said that finance department of this retailer needs to review financial performance and review provision of funds. Marketing department needs to communicate with this department in order to get enough funds by which it can perform all of its functions. It needs to provide information regarding all functions that it will require performing for attracting customers and promoting goods of company. Marketing and HRM: One of the main functions that HRM perform is hiring and retaining skilled employees. Whereas, marketing departments needs skilled employees who can bring innovative ideas within business. Marketing department can attract customers only when it 4

So, marketing department needs to cooperate and collaborate with HRM to ensure that all the appropriate staffing levels are in place for research and developing new ideas, meeting production targets and creating competent sales. Overall, it can be said that for accomplishing individual and overall organizational goals, marketing needs to work closely with other departments. Management functions along with the ways to manage business Management refers to the complete administration of the establishment whether it is a business, government entity or non-profit organization. The complete procedure has been identified in a set of functions performed by managers to fulfil pre determined goals. In general there are five basic functions such as preparation, managing, recruit personnel, guiding and controlling. Planning is concerned with discovery of objectives that needs to be achieved by the employees of the organization (Dumas and et.al., 2018). After this stage, management occurs as it includes bringing together the manpower and material resources for the achievement laid down by the firm and provide them to prepare finished goods. In staffing, enterprise is highly concerned about the quality of their personnel specifically the managers. Next is controlling which is related to other management function which illustrates checking process in which whether proper progress is being made or not. And last one is guiding according to which appropriate directions will be provided to achieve positive outcome. The best and most suitable way to manage and operate business is by empowering personnel to become leader. In order to make sure about the smooth functioning, listening to employees are highly significant. The good manager should know about the ways to reach out to their employees needs as well as desires. By hiring right candidates, setting of achievable goals, establish team mission, delegate appropriate tasks, maintain open communication, manage time wisely, discuss over teamwork and provide appropriate feedback, the managers are able to administer their team in well systematic manner (Dagiene and et.al., 2017). Hence, in order to manage appropriately, every managers tries their maximum to adopt certain phases related to the strategic management such as conceptualization, execution, judgement and modifications. It helps to determine objectives and clearly describes them without wasting any time, money and efforts. 5
Talent management and organizational culture Talent management refers to the procedure that personnel utilize in order to recruit, track and interview their job candidates at the time of on boarding and training new employees. It is the kind of function performed by human resource department. It helps to fulfil the aim or scope by attracting, developing, motivating and retaining high performance employees within the establishment. With the help of adopting certain practices, the company is able to make their employees highly productive in nature. It is greatly significant in order to keep up with the future requirements of the establishment. Hence, it is all about nurturing talent along with alignment of strategies to achieve long term goals (Garcia-Zamor, 2019). This basically works well in creating a pool of talent within the firm which helps in achieving strategic objectives in the long term period. This requires the establishment to work over the present set of personnel and polish them to align their talent with the pre-determined objectives. In context of organizational culture, it has been identified that it is the proper and appropriate way to behave within an establishment. It involves shared beliefs and values by leaders and then communicate and improve through wide-ranging methods such as shaping employee perspective, behaviours and understanding. Optimistic culture greatly affects the overall performance of the firm. Strong and healthy culture cultivates a workspace in which employees have higher job satisfaction level, deeper and detailed employee engagement and ultimately increases the productivity level. It has been evaluated from various studies that satisfied and engaged employees always go beyond and above the requirements because they are invested in the work or job they are doing or performing their roles within the organization. A positive workplace culture improves teamwork or collaborative working, raises morale level among employees, enhance productivity level along with efficiency and increase retention of the workforce. With the involvement of this type of culture, the managers are able to increase job satisfaction level along with improve productivity of workers. Apart from this, it has also been identified that positive workplace environment reduces stress level among employees and helps them to provide their 100% into their job role (Yilmaz and Fall, 2017). 6
CONCLUSION From the above report, it has been concluded that effective management in each and every aspect within the establishment helps the managers as well as the firm to arrange the factors of assembles, production and organize resources in effective manner to achieve pre determined goals.
