PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Having a performance improvement plan is necessary to address the shortcomings in the
performance of the project team. A performance improvement plan helps in enhancing the
performance of the team. A proper performance improvement plan should involve documenting
the performance issues of the project team members. The documentation should include the
description of any performance discrepancy within the team, description of the consequences and
evaluation of a proper plan of action that can help in performance improvement (Phillips, 2012).
After identifying the shortfalls, a proper performance plan is needed to be developed by
conducting proper meetings. This performance improvement plan is a standard tool that helps in
assisting the employees who are underperforming and therefore, this plan would be successful
only if it can identify and eliminate the issues that are faced by the project team members. A
proper performance improvement plan helps in correcting the different issues faced by the team
members while working in a project.
The proposed system should clearly be able to identify the problems associated with the
project and its team members followed by the proper documentation of the problem. The
identified problems should be properly dealt with by conducting a face to face meeting with the
team member or members who are facing the problems. Apart from this, the action plan should
clearly indicate the performance goals that all the members in a team should achieve in order to
improve their performances (Van Tiem, Moseley & Dessinger, 2012). A proper and achievable
timeline should be created as a part of the performance improvement plan in order to achieve an
overall performance improvement.
