Introduction
This essay brings out a discussion on literature that is based on primary health care services for the
older people. This essay explains primary health care for aged people. Further, it evaluates the
resources that are allocated and at the same time, they are treated with primary health care
approach. This essay also carries a critical discussion on primary healthcare services delivered for the
older people. As a part of critical discussion, this essay includes literature on how elderly people are
treated in nursing homes. Elderly people are affected risk factors such as emotional factors,
psychological factors, and physical factors that have resulted to increase in the population of elderly
people in nursing homes. The growing change in the lifestyles and adaption of western culture that
have resulted in managing complex relationships between the working class adults and elder
parents. Meanwhile, social groups such as old-aged homes and other institutional groups who
participate actively from these groups have not shown improved living conditions of the elderly
people but these old aged homes have not shown any positive results.
Increasing longevity is the symbol of social economic development and public health. Although, most
of the individuals face the risk of at least one chronic disease such as osteo-muscular, diabetes, and
hypertension. Every country needs to remain prepared so that it can address the consequences of
various demographic conditions. In order to deal with increasing burden of chronic diseases, it
requires health promotion and prevention strategically intervene at community level where disease
management strategies have to be accomplished within the healthcare system. WHO collaborate
with certain partners and the ministry of health from developing and developed countries so that it
can produce age friendly PHC kit that aims to sensitize and educate medicine and treatment
providers about the needs of the older clients?
Elderly people are the integral part of our society. In the last few decades, the researchers have
started addressing the problem because of growing population nearly 30% senior people are paid
their pension schemes. Institutional elder abuse is defined as mistreatment, which happens nursing
homes, care homes, and assisted living. This type of elder abuse at the nursing homes range from
emotional, sexual, and physical to isolation and avoiding behaviour from the caregivers. For
example- financial exploitation happens when a caretaker tries to abuse and undue advantage by
stealing money from their rooms. Sometimes elderly people suffer from severe injury, loss, and pain,
which may lead to violation of human rights finally leading to reduction in the quality life of elderly
individual. This demeanour is known as ignorance, negligence and disrespecting also depends on the
frequency of types of mistreatment applied on them with severe results. In order to determine the
cruelty, neglect, and abuse shown by perception of families, health care providers, and caretakers
differs. The three major kinds can be-
Violation of medical, legal, and human rights
Disregard of decisions, finances, and statuses
Other exploitation comprises of threat of treating them with abusing statements, elder people are
also afraid of abandon by shame, caretaker, and avoiding them has contributed to neglecting the
elder people. In order to analyse critically, below are some exploitations such as-
Material exploitation
It is the exploiting the assets, money and property of the elderly people without their permission
and threating them emotionally and physically. As positioning them at the place of huge risk by not
