INTRODUCTION
Artificial intelligence is the science of making machines intelligent, specially the
computer systems (Artificial Intelligence. 2018). The use of AI has started in 20th century. In
1956, John McCarthy stated the term Artificial intelligence, it demonstrated the first running AI
program at Carnegie Mellon University. From then till now its use has increased a lot and in
today's era it has become more popular. Some people think that AI is necessary for the
development of humanity and some thinks that it will be a curse to the humanity. The thesis
statement of this topic is “Is artificial intelligence a threat or an aid to the future of humanity?” In
this essay, a discussion is made on the topic of Artificial intelligence by which its pros and cons
can be identified. This discussion will help in identifying the threat and aids of artificial
intelligence to the humanity.

“Supporters of AI think that it can help as work faster”. Since computer systems
helps in solving complex tasks within seconds therefore the use of computer systems has
increased from the past decades (Boutilier and et. al., 2015). The advancement in technology has
increased a lot because of the use of computer system in each and every field. In the modern era,
there is no other field left in which use of computer systems has limited. The use of computer
systems has increased in finance, education, auto-mobile, meteorological department, defence,
animation etc. There are many computer systems which can work faster in comparison to the
normal computer systems. The supercomputers are the example of it. These types of computers
are used in meteorological department, defence etc. The use of these computer systems has
increased because these systems can work even more faster. The recent developed fastest
computer system in supercomputer is TaihuLight (Rahwan and et. al., 2015). This is a Chinese
supercomputer which is manufactured to be the fastest supercomputer in the world. The use of
supercomputers is also in the field of predictions. The use of predictions can include the natural
disaster, earthquake, Tsunami etc. These are the areas where AI has played an important role in
the saving of humanity. The use of AI not only limited to earth it has also expanded its feathers
in other planets too. The AI has reached on Moon, Mars etc. The super computers can work
faster as compared to the humans. They can calculate the most complex problem even in a few

seconds. That is why the supporters of AI thinks that it can help as through same the working has
become faster.
The aid of Artificial intelligence in the future of humanity could be the facilities of speed
and accuracy in terms of benefit of humanity. In case of threat in future of humanity, Artificial
Intelligence can replace the jobs of humans with computer systems and in the end if computers
are made thinkable than they can replace humans in many fields. There are other too who
believe that “AI is a threat to the future of humanity because if people use it too much there
will be a time when robots will replace humans”. Although the use of AI has increased too
much and it is necessary to use it towards the betterment of humanity but it can be a serious issue
when the use of AI has increased too much that the robots will replace humans (Fallon and et.
al., 2015). This is a threat to the humanity because in upcoming years the AI will expand its feet
in almost all the areas of world. The use of AI can be seen in today's world in the form of mobile
phone in which the sensors of touch is an example of AI. The sensors can feel the touch of a
human and then operate accordingly. There are a lot of area in which AI is discussed to take over
to the humans. When machines will take to the work of human, it will be a threat to the humanity
because it will reduce jobs etc. There are some examples such as ATM machines, which has
replaced humans from their work (Steels, L. and Brooks, R., 2018). These are the areas in which
the use of AI should be increased but in almost all the departments use of AI will get the
humanity replaced by robots. When computers get the power of thinking they can be dangerous
for the humanity because the feeling of love, humanity, affection etc. will be in the machines
than the use of humans will be limited in almost every field (Rahwan and et. al., 2015).
Therefore, it can be said that use of AI in every field will replace the humans in upcoming time.
Therefore, these systems are used in almost every department such as banks, tickets, etc.
There are various jobs which a computer and robots can do. Since the use of AI has
increased in almost every department such as education, banking, defence, auto-mobile,
manufacturing, management etc. (Contribution of AI. 2019). therefore it can be said that most of
the work of humans can be done by computers (Ghahramani, 2015). There are many areas where
robots are placed to work for such as chef, factory worker, surgeon, security guard, soldier,
receptionist, telephone salesperson, teacher etc. These are the areas where robotics has already
replaced humans. The use of computers and robotics has increased the speed of work for the
humans. This is the revolution of technology in terms of AI. The jobs of humans such as a post

department etc. has lost due to the advanced technology in place. When a message takes two or
three seconds than why should a person will use a facility in which time is consumed. Therefore
the use of computers and robots has limit the use of humans in the world (Raza, M. Q. and
Khosravi, A., 2015). The use of robotics in future will replace, soldiers, manufacturers, cooks,
guards etc. by machines which will be programmed to perform the specific task. The use of
robotics and computer systems in these field will limit the use of humans. To counter this
situation human should have been develop a special ability to which it should be hired by a
company. If it is not possible to have some special ability than the chances of unemployment will
increase. Therefore, it can be said that computers and robots can do many jobs and thus can
replace humans.
“Some statistics show that AI move people from their jobs and there is a tendency to
continue to develop”. When use of computer systems increase it will replace humans from their
jobs. This is relevant in terms of increment in the use of AI in various fields (Gunning, 2017).
The fields in which AI can replace the jobs of human are security guard, cashier in banks, ,
soldiers etc. This is clear from the above fields where use of AI has increased that robots will
replace humans from their jobs. When a robot can count the money and can do every task which
is performed by a clerk than why should a bank use a clerk. Instead of spending every month on
a human they will prefer to invest once in a machine which can perform better than the clerk.
The main advantage behind the use of a robot replacing human is that computers can perform a
task faster and accurate as compared to a human (Russell, S. J. and Norvig, P., 2016). Humans
can rely on the outcome of a machine rather than a human because these machines are specially
designed to perform a specific task. Similarly, the use of AI has increased almost every field.
The use of AI will take the world into another business direction. Till now bigger economies of
world are trying to counter the business activities but when AI will expand its feet, it will surely
replace many manufacturing sector. Thus it can be said that AI will replace humans from their
jobs and it will be developed further. Some statistics show that AI move people from their jobs
and there is a tendency to continue to develop. This is true to the context of increasing use of AI.
When the use of AI will reach to almost every field than it can replace humans form their work.
“More and more experts are focusing their work on what can be done to improve AI
and reduce its harmful effects”. The expert in the field of AI are looking continuously to
improve the AI so that its quality will be best in almost every field. Here quality means the

speed, accuracy, thinking etc. (Miller, 2018). If computer systems start thinking as humans do, it
will be a huge development in the field of AI. The development in the field of AI includes the
use in different fields such as defence etc. these are the areas where AI is required more because
the value of a human is quite more important than the value of a machine. The harmful effects of
AI includes the loss of jobs to human, replacement of human by robots in a great number of
fields etc. In order to reduce these threats, the researchers are focusing on limiting the use of AI
in specific fields (Skowron, P., Faliszewski, P. and Lang, J., 2016). The use of AI in almost
every field will increase in unemployment. The use of AI should be more specific such that it
will be beneficial for the humanity when it is going to harm the means of humanity, it's use
should have been limited. The limitation of use of AI can be in many fields such as
manufacturers, surgeons, chef etc. (Harmful affects of AI. 2016). These are the areas where a lot
of humans are performing their work with accuracy. If computers will replace them than a great
number of human gets unemployed. Therefore, the use of AI should be limited in some specific
fields. With the use of AI it can be recommended that the use of AI should be limited. Although
use of AI will be better for the upliftment of humanity but still its use should be limited because
of the humanity. If computers will replace humans than it will be the starting of downfall of
humanity. More and more experts are focusing their work on what can be done to improve AI
and reduce its harmful effects. The use of AI should have been limited to some specific fields so
that it cannot expand itself in decreasing the use of humans.
CONCLUSION
There are two types of effects of Artificial intelligence that whether it will be an aid or a
threat to the future of humanity. This is discussed in this report and different arguments and
statements are passed in favour or against the use of Artificial Intelligence. Supporters of AI
think that it can help as work faster. Since computer systems are known for their speed and
accuracy. They perform complex tasks with accuracy and in fraction of seconds. This is the
characteristics of computer systems and they are designed to work with more speed. AI is a
threat to the future of humanity because if people use it too much there will be a time when
robots will replace humans. In today's era, the use of AI has been limited in specific fields but the
use of it will increase as it is growing. This will be a threat to the humanity because when it will
replace the jobs of humans than the world will go towards unemployment. Since computers and
robots can do many jobs therefore their use has expanded too much in almost every field. In

today's world every person should know about the use of computer because of its expansion in
every field.
