INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS1
The theory of management focus on the industrial development of the organization.
There are certain components which are laid emphasis, such as work ethics, analysis, synthesis,
logic, efficiency, elimination of waste and standardization. The focus of an organization is on a
worker efficiency rather than social qualities or dissimilarities between the workers. The
common difference between the small business and entrepreneur are emphasized. The essay
further focusses on the case study of Leslie Blodgett, former CEO of Bare Escentuals. Blodgett
has formulated its beauty product and have worked for Max Factor and Neutrogena. The new
line of make was made much more advanced and was free was skin irritation. Further in the
essay the contribution of Bare had been discussed towards the economy in 1990.
In the case study it shows that how Blodgett had introduced its product in the market
which was mineral based powder markup (Rahman, 2012). The product did not well suit to all
skin tones. After working with the prominent company such as Max Factor and Neutrogena,
Blodgett had introduced its first new line of makeup which had applicable to all skin tones and
the product is appealed to women of all ages. Blodgett had demonstrated the entrepreneurial trait
by introducing new products in the market. The trait of creativity and risk bearing in the new
production line with an intention of not adding chemical additives, which had resulted to an
increase in manufacturing and sales. The category of entrepreneur which would best fit Blodgett
is the scientific management of F.W Taylor, which shows how an organization is planned,
coordinated and controlled under the leadership of the management.
Bare Escentuals had started its business in 1994, which was a small bath and body retail
business in California. The company offered its first mineral based product, which later resulted
