INTRODUCTION
Any activity done in order to earn money or generate profit out of it is known as business.
The study highlights the various functional department of the organisation and hierarchy of
management within the organisation. The report also explains that why communication is
essential for the leadership and management. What role does communication play in leadership
and why the communication is important for an organisation to operate. The study also highlight
the drivers of the globalisation and its impact on business. The study also shows the styles of
leadership in the modern organisation. In order to do so the report has used the Crawford
healthcare. Which provides treatment for the chronic wounds, wound infection etc. (Rodon, and
Silva, 2015).
1. Functional area in Crawford Healthcare
Finance department : The finance department of Crawford Healthcare manages the money and
associated risk in order to help the hospital to achieve its goal. Because if the healthcare hospital
has the strong financial base than it will be able to provide efficient healthcare services to the
patients. The finance department ensures the effectiveness of the hospital which help the hospital
to plan for future. The finance department of the Crawford Healthcare also collect the funds for
the expenditures of the hospital. The finance department looks for the cost of the emergency
room in order to increase revenue to provide good amount for the investment by the hospital.
Human resource department : The human resource department in the Crawford Healthcare
appoints the employees hire skilled and qualified employees for the hospital which are useful for
the specific field of work. Human resource department of the Crawford Healthcare perform the
following activities such as recruiting the candidates, training the employees and communicating
with the members of the hospital and manage the salaries of the employees (Human Resource
Management, 2019). The training programme includes improving the confidence of employees,
building team spirit and behavioural management.
Since the healthcare staff need to be well trained and should be expertise in their field
therefore the human resource department team of the hospital evaluate the current employees
periodically. The human resource department of the Crawford Healthcare manage both the
clinical and non - clinical staff.
Marketing department : It is the most important department of any hospital. Marketing
department helps in analysing the customer needs and want (Patel, Feinglass, and Didwania,

2018.). The marketing department of the Crawford Healthcare provides reliability in a way that it
assures the patients that the hospital staff is well trained, the doctors who will handle them has a
good qualification and are expertise in the field. As the patients gets the treatment but how will
the patient will get satisfaction from the service in order to provide them satisfaction some
tangibles should be provided to them after the treatment such as instructions for home care, and
some tips in order to stay healthy, the hospital also provide glow caps which help a patient to
take the medicines.
Hierarchy in the Crawford Healthcare
1. Top level management : Top level management of the hospital include dean of the hospital,
Hospital administrators, specialists surgeons
Dean : The dean of the hospital carries the leadership duties.
Hospital administrators : In order to manage the activities of the hospital a group of people
support the dean of the hospital. The hospital administrators take care of profit and loss of the
company and manage hospital administration and also work in order to maintain beliefs and
values of the hospital.
2. Middle level hospital management : Middle level management includes normal specialists,
and nursing staff
Normal specialists : These are the specialized surgeons in the hospital having the years of
experience in the field and manages the various cases in the hospital
Nursing staff : The nurses are those members in the hospital who assist the doctors.
3. Lower level management : Lower level management include physician assistant and medical
students
Physician assistant : Physician is a doctor who is responsible for the testing and treatment of the
patient.
Medical students : These are the individuals who are pursuing their degree but are not the
employees of the hospital.
2. Communication is central to leadership and management
Communication helps to guide, assure, inform and inspire the others. Therefore it is most
important skill which the leader should posses i.e., communication skill. The great leaders are
those who can promote their believes and inculcate those values in others (Kaphingst, and et.al.,
2016). Communication is also important for the management as it serves as the essential base of

planning. All the information should be communicated to the managers of the organisation which
will help in communicating the plan and implementing it. Communication is essential for the
management as effective communication helps the organisation to achieve the success or it can
be said communication is the blood of the organisation. Communication helps in promoting
motivation of employees and it also play an important role in changing the individual attitude
(Browne, and et.al., 2016). There should be interdependent communication within the
organisation. Interdependent communication means the message which has been conveyed is
fully understood by the other or the receiver.
In order to achieve the organisational goal there should be interdepartmental
communication. Which means that every department within the organisation should
communicate with the other department of the organisation to avoid any type of mistake? For
example if there is any new strategy or the plan the marketing department is planning to apply
than the finance department should have the proper knowledge about it to collect the necessary
fund and make the budget accordingly. Or if there is any vacancy in any department it should be
communicated to the human resource department in order to recruit the employee with the
desired skills.
Interdepartmental communication within the hospital means the professional of one
department communicates the necessary information to the professional of the other department
to provide good quality service to the patient (Whittle, 2017). Interdepartmental communication
within the hospital is necessary in order to provide quality service to the patient. The hospital
should conduct an interdepartmental meeting periodically to address various issues regarding
work and working environment and find the solution in order to improve it.
3. Current drivers of the globalisation and their impact on business
The main drivers of the globalisation include the international investment, technological
advancement and international trade. They help the organisation to move their business forward
and provide their product to worldwide. The drivers provide resources to the organisation to
work efficiently and grow in the global market.
International investment : International investment drives the globalisation by integrate the
economy. The international investor invest in the organisation to get the higher profit (Epple
2018). It helps the organisation to get the fund for the organisation, promote their organisation in

global market and attract the more investor. The investor can get the new opportunity in the
market and improve the communication.
International investment make a huge impact on the Crawford health care company. It
provide the fund to the health care company for running their business and expand their business
in the international or global market. International investment pull the healthcare company to
their nation and earn the more profit.
International trade : International trade drives the globalisation by providing the platform to
the organisation and encourage them to trade in international market to get the fair price of their
product and services. The UK government made various trade policy to efficiently trade in
global market. They maintain the competition in the market. Companies target the area, expand
their business from the home country to the global market. It help the companies to find the
resources and outsource labour from non-home country (Effect of globalization on international
trade, 2018).
International trade impact the Crawford health care company through the globalisation.
The change in trade policy affect the business. Some time they make the adverse impact or
sometime they make the favourable impact on globalisation. The government reduces the tariff
rate to trade in other country so the healthcare business can grow. Government reduce the taxes
on the medicine, medical instrument and chemicals to increase the profit margin of the Crawford
health care company. They also subsidies the medical product to trade easily in the global
market.
Advance technology : Advance technology drives the globalisation in the market. Technology
provides the various method to connect the economy. The advance technology like digital
marketing, social websites, and multi - media connect the economy and provide the base to grow
in the global market. Technology help in promoting the product in the international or global
market.
Technology make a huge impact on the business of Crawford health care company. The
advance technology help the healthcare company to maintain their records on the computer and
reduces the paper work. It also help the patient to get the knowledge about the disease and their
cure. The various healthcare mobile app find to get the symptoms about the disease and the
various ways to resolve their problem. Maintaining the online record also help the doctors to get
the whole knowledge about the patient prior disease and medical history (Dwyer 2015). It also

4. Comparison of different leadership style and the application in business
There are different leadership style which was used by the manager in the organisation to
regulate their business and get the higher result. It helps the manager to apply the different
strategies in the organisation to increase their profitability and productivity (Merrill, 2015).

information. It summarize the drivers of the globalisation who help to grow the organisation in
the global market through various drives like advance technology, international investment and
the international trade. This report help to understand the various leadership style in the business
through their comparison and how the democratic leadership style are useful for the organisation.
