CLOUD-BASED SOLUTIONS2 Introduction Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services such as storage, databases, intelligence, software, analytics, and networking via or over the internet i.e. cloud so as to offer faster economies of scale, flexible resources. This paper will briefly explain Apple iCloud, IBM SmartCloud, and Google G Suite cloud service providers The primary function of the three cloud service providers Apple iCloud Apple icloud is an Internet-based back-up which connects macOS and iOS and makes everything work seamlessly. One of the major function of Apple icloud is for storage. In here Apple users can share, store, and upload documents and then access the data and docs from any computer so as long as it is connected to the internet. In addition, with Apple icloud one is able to back-up apps and data of their iOS devices and if the Apple device is stolen or lost one is able to track the device as well as send the message to display on the screen of the device. Different from other cloud service providers Apple iclould helps one protect their Apple products by helping them locate them when they are lost. The service also helps one securely keep their videos stored up to date on all of their devices(O'Grady, 2016). IBM SmartCloud IBM was formed as a merger of three companies i.e. the Computing Scale Company, Tabulating Machine Company, and the International Time Recording company. The company offers cloud services to all its clients. The organization offers both platform as a service commonly known as PaaS and infrastructure as a service commonly known as IaaS. With the IaaS companies can access virtualized IT services like networking, power, and storage via the internet. With PaaS, organizations are able to run, deploy and manage the various types of
CLOUD-BASED SOLUTIONS3 public cloud. In here the IBM cloud supports programming languages such as Python, PHP, Node.js, and java. With IBM cloud service empowers an organization IT operations(IBM, n.d ). Google G-suite Google G-suite is a brand of Google cloud computing which was released in 2006 as a GoogleAppforcompanies’domain.Currently,G-SuitecomprisesGoogle+,Calendar, Hangouts, and Gmail for communication and the drive which is used for sites, forms, slides, docs, and sheets. Different from other cloud-based companies Google G-suite can be used on an organization domain(Jackson, 2018). Cloud computing service model used by the three companies Apple icloud takes cloud computing services beyond PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS model by remotely access music files and iTunes by matching them against iCloud collection. IBM cloud has implemented the three service models which are Iaas, Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a service. IaaS provides clients with pay as you access networking, servers and computing resources. SaaS model delivers applications and software over the internet.Google G-Suite is a SaaS cloud computing model where apps are accessible remotely via the internet. Cloud deployment model Apple icloud has implemented private cloud deployment model as it has gone beyond IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. Its services reside within the organizations' data center this able to provide securityof itsservices. IBMcloudserviceshavedeployed ahybrid model. In here an organization can offer resource as a service for free of charge or pay-per-use. Google G-Suite also relies on the public cloud deployment model to manage its services. With this Google is able to provide the service 24 hours to its clients and also eliminate the need for software.
CLOUD-BASED SOLUTIONS4 Cloud security features offered by the three companies Apple iCloud has implemented great security features. One of the security feature is encrypting data and information when is on transit. In addition, Apple provides end-to-end encryption of data. Some of security features offered by IBM are two-factor authentication and the use of tokens which eliminates the needs of storing iCloud password on computers and devices. Other security features are virtual private cloud, and API keys. Google G-suite has implemented the use of proactive security alerting feature which alerts when attacks are triggered; this also include sensitive data detection. All the security features provided by the three companies are important when selecting the very best cloud service providers.Another consideration is email and office security; this is because as an organization we will be able to protect organization’s confidential information and avoidance of identity theft(Sutherland, 2011) Conclusion One of the advantages of cloud computing is that it offers flexibility. For this case I would recommend we go for IBM cloud services; this because we will be able to use IBM services without worrying about the underlying infrastructure. Second, IBM provides great security features such as virtual private cloud, API keys which help keep data secure, and encryption. Lastly, with IBM we can determine our level of control with as a service option and at the same choose the storage option we would want i.e. public, hybrid, or private.
