1INTRODUCTION TO COURTS Part 1 Answer 1 The United States Supreme Court has virtually unlimited jurisdiction which is the highest court in USA. The jurisdiction is in relation to both geographical jurisdiction which means the area which is governed by the court and subject matter jurisdiction such as serious and minor issues. The US Supreme Court has geographical jurisdiction of both state and federal matters. The court can also try serious and minor issues both and thus have unlimited subject matter jurisdiction (Landis, 2017). Answer 2 This is because the court is the highest court in the USA and has the right to try both federal and state claims. This right has been provided to the court by the constitution of the USA. It can try any matter it deems fit to be tried. Answer 3 There are various responsibilities which have been imposed on the Supreme Court of USA. Power is provided to the court by the constitution to check is actions of the congress and the president if required. It can advise the presidents on actions which are not allowed by the constitution. It also has the responsibility of acting without bias for the parties bringing a claim before it.
