INTRODUCTION
Information technology (IT) is known as the approach to manage utilise and share
information by means of telecommunication internet or computers (Saeidi, P. and et.al., 2019).
With the increasing role and benefits of IT in business activities it has become crucial for the
organisations to analyse its implications and integration with business operations. This report
analyses the significance and impact of IT on operations and performance of Barclay bank. It is
one of the most successful financial service provider and investment bank operating across the
world. The study will assess the positive and negative impact of social media and IT on business.

Roles of IT in success or failure of business
According to M. Calvello,(2019) Information technology plays a very important role in
decisions of management of a business with the help of software like ERP and other decision
supporting system. These softwares present the business with a brief information about its
finances, sales, marketing trends and inventory details. Data received from these softwares are
used by the company to decide which products to promote and which should be stopped for
production. It gives a brief analysation of the expenses which requires to be reduced and
products which needs more supply. This is how IT effects the success or failure according to its
use.
Internet is used for secured entry and wireless CCTV cameras. These features improve
the security level in an organization which as a result affect the success or failure of the business.
With the help of IT many companies store their important data on cloud services which are not
only safe but also reduces cost of paper which was previous form of saving data. IT with
introduction multi language websites enables the company to perform business at international
scale. With the help of online facilities companies reaches new candidates for recruitment of
skill-full employees for achieving success (Ghobakhloo and Azar, 2018). IT with the help of
modern systems reduces the cost of production by utilizing advanced technologies which are
more sustainable and efficient in nature.

Ethical and social issues while running a business
As per the view of R. A. Nelson(2021), Ethical and social issues within a business is seen
as the activities which are prompted as issues related to trust and integrity with society. Some of
these issues which affect a running business are, Discrimination and harassment are known as
the two biggest ethical issue which creates a negative impact on business. Such issue should not
take place in an organization as their results are proven very catastrophic. Every business should
regulate awareness among its employees to stop discrimination or harassment of any kind. These
discriminations and harassments occur in different ways like, Age, Disability, Income status,
Race, Gender and Religion.
Health and safety of employee and workers are very essential to any organization.
Therefore, the often organization have certain rules and regulation which are required to be
followed but sometimes accidents do occur which hampers business environments. This requires
the company to be prepared for such events. Social media is used in good and bad terms in which
it affects the business. Sometimes social media platform can exploit the name or brand of a
company if important information or data leaked. This influences the whole environment of the
organization.
Accounts is necessary in all the organizations, but when unethical accounting practices
are help in an organization. It turns into serious trouble for the business specifically in public
companies. Such activities not only results n punishment or fines but also affects the goodwill of
