Introduction
Main aim of this report is to effectively analysis the concept of information technology.
IT play an essential role in the growth and development of business. It is an important
application of computers & telecommunication equipment which help in storing and manipulate
data related to an organization. In other words it is related to the implementation and
development of computer based information system (Apte and Davis, 2019). It is a kind of
software application and computer hardware. It build a communication network for a company,
protect the data and information of a business, create & administering databases. Information
technology assist employees troubleshoot problems with the help of their computer and mobile
devices. It also perform various range of work to ensure that the efficiency & security of
business information. Tesco Company is considered for this report. It is a British multinational
retailer company. Which is developed by Jack Cohen in 1919 & it’s headquarter is in Welwyn
garden its, Hertfordshire, England, U.K. It deals with various supermarkets, Hypermarkets,
superstores and convenience stores & sell mostly products under its own brand name. This report
includes the classification of computers and various impact of IT in a business. Other than this it
includes ethical and social issues and its impact on business and impact & growth of internet on
business.

According to (Avinash, 2021) Classification of computer is also known as classes of
computer. Computer is classified on the basis of size, type and capacity of their work which is
known as classification of computer. Now a days there are various type of computer are available
based on different type, capacity and size. Now a days there are various types of computer are
available and all have different functionality and data processing method. Computer is classified
into three important parts which are discussed below:
Classification of computer on the bases of size & capacity- This type of classification is
divided into on the bases of internal memory & speed of processing. On the bases of size
computer is divided into four parts, which are mention below:

Micro computer- Most common type of microcomputer are now a days used at home.
After the invention of microprocessor in the year 1970 it quite more easy for people to use
computers for their personal use because now computers are available at a reasonable price. This
type of computer is also called as digital personal computer. It is smaller to any other large
system. It is self-contain unit and design for used by only one person at a point of time. This type
of computer include various parts such as input and output devices, software, operating system,
networks & servers all make a complete personal digital computer. Various examples of
microcomputers are desktop computer, smartphone, tablet, and laptop.
Minicomputer- It is a medium size computer which is more costly and powerful as
compare to microcomputer. This type of computer is also known as digital & multi-user
computer which use multiple CPU. As because of this many people are able to work on these
computer instead of a single person. It support multiple users so this process is also known as
time sharing system. For efficient working it require printer and platter also. It is a type of
computer which are more expansive and better performing various functions as compare to
microcomputer. The size, storage and speed of this type of computer is more but less than the
mainframe & supercomputer. This type of computers are used for store large data base and for
multiple users at a single point of time. Generally this type of computer are used in automation
industry. This type of computer are used as real-time application in industry, bookings, and
research centres etc. Example of minicomputer are tablet PC, desktop minicomputer, high-end
Mp3 players.
Main frame computer- This type of computer have a large storage capacity and very
fast speed of processing as compare to micro and minicomputer. Mainframe computer are multi-
programming, high performance computer & multi users, these computers has a capacity that at a
single point of time these computer will manage the workload of more than hundred users. These
type of computer are capable for solving complex or difficult problems for a long time. Various
organisation use such type of computers these are Banks, Insurance Company, Hospital, and
railways. This type of computers are very large in size. For example ASCC (Automatic Sequence
control computer).
Super computer- A supercomputer is a very fast and more powerful computer as
compare to other type of computers. This type of computer are large in size and require a huge
amount of investment for data processing. The storage capacity is also huge which process the
