INTRODUCTION
Information technology is a modern technique in computers, which is use to store, retrieve,
manipulate data. IT plays very vital role in globalisation of businesses, as this help enterprises and
their owner to share details about services and products provided by them. Using technology they
also can retrieve information of other organisations that is important for them to make further
strategies in their organisation. The tower hotel is one of the biggest hotels in UK. In this report, it
will discussed how The Tower Hotel uses IT for their success and management, along with different
types of networks they can use in their organisation. A brief is also discussed about the ethical and
social issues which they can face due to Information Technology.

Understand ethical and social issues associated with Technology
Information technology plays a very important role in any kind of business. In today's world
it is very tough to assume a business without it. Use of information technology in business make it
easy for an entrepreneur and management to control their business. The Tower Hotel is one of the
biggest hotel in UK, they have used technology in their organisation which helps them in many
ways like globalisation, management, and in many other ways. But some time organisation have to
face some problems related to ethics and in social factors. Some of these ethical and social issues
are:-
Ethical issues – Ethics are the part of philosophy related to morals of human and business.
Some of these issues are as follow:-
 Privacy – When it comes to ethical issues, privacy comes first for any organisation. The
Tower Hotel is basically carrying huge data, which they use to store within the system.
Government has made policies and laws as well for hotel industry that are linked with
personal information of an individual who shared it on online website of the hotel. The
information which is collected by hotel for security reasons can only be kept by them for the
same thing and this information can not be shared by a hotel when individual is not agreeing
on it. Failure into this, may lead hotel to face a number of issues where they might get

charged for using the information of an individual without their permission (Kellermann and
Jones, 2013).
 Wrong information provided by hotel in its online application : In today's competitive
business environment, every single hotel is looking forward to have a good customer base.
This may lead business hotels like The Tower Hotel, to deliver wrong information to visitors
in their online websites so that they may attract a people towards their services that are being
offered by them. Thus, this could be considered as an ethical issue which might put
customers in deep trouble or their views for a specific hotel might get change as well in
negative sense. This will directly put negative impact upon The Tower Hotel's image.
Social issues – Social issues are those problem which are faced by humans in society. These
can affect their healths or lifestyles also ( Social Issues, 2019). This lead to health issues and many
other issues discussed as follow:-
 Lack of information – This issue can be considered as one of the major challenge that can
be faced by The Tower Hotel. It is being found that, just a part of public uses internet and
information shared on online application can only be seen by individuals that uses internet.
Here, any discounts given by The Tower Hotel for booking rooms through online websites
are not being provided to people who directly visit to place. This discrimination basically
took place because most of targeted visitors did not used their website and because of this, it
is may be possible that hotel may face various issues like decrease in their customer base
and so on.
 Waste done by hotel – Pollution has been one of the social issue for public over the years.
(Mithas and et. al., 2012). The Tower Hotel was also somehow polluting the environment
through throwing waste materials out of the infrastructure. This might create problems for
the hotel and that is why it is required for The Tower Hotel to take in use of IT system and
basically software that could help it in reducing waste. With the help of this, The Tower
Hotel could easily gain many competitive advantages in specific time frame.

The Tower Hotel is a big organisation of UK, which provides services in service sector.
They need to make a strong and effective network between it's management and employees so the
work will get easier. In Information Technology there are different types of network available

service sector, it plays a very crucial role, as it make the coordination and integration between the
elements and system to make the working smoother ( Ricci, Rokach and Shapira, 2015). It also
help The Tower Hotel to grow their business at world wide and make them self updated with new
trends and demands of market. This also help them to know the different strategies of other big
hotels from the world and make changes in their strategies according to it, and make them more
effective. As every coin has two faces, technology also have darker part along with brighter part.
The Tower Hotel is a big name of service sector in UK, they can use technology to enhance their
business. Some of the roles which IT have in success of an organisation:-
 Official Website – It is the biggest factor that any organisation want to achieve. It also help
an organisation to make more effective strategies by studding and knowing about the
successful strategies which were used earlier. Using online sources like website, an
individual from all over the world come to know about them and their services, which can

help them to increase in their profit.
 Online book applications – Technology also help to make integration between the systems
and it's elements. This help an organisation to make and remind collaboration between
resources and services. For example, if any one from any corner of the world makes booking
for services or products in The Tower Hotel using other online source rather then official
website of hotel ( Sutton and McCallum, 2012). Then it will automatically get reflected on
the system of hotel and management.
 Social Media – In today's time social media is one of the biggest factor, that every
organisation uses for their business growth. It is a big and good platform or an organisation
to show products and services offered by them. This can help The Tower Hotel to advertise
and detail about products ans services given by them for their customers.
 Mobility - This is revolutionary moment in service sector. Management sector has a special
influence of it, it provides iPads, smartphones, tablets in system to make working faster and
easier ( Venkatesh, Thong and Xu, 2012). The Tower Hotel can use this to make a
systematic coordination in the team. For example, if they have staff of 100 employees at
security, then the security heads and management team require walkie-talkie to
communicate with the security guards.
ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
Technology plays a vital role in development of an organisation, but also affects the life
style of their employees. An organisation can also face problem due to issues like hacking, data lose
and privacy. This all can affect their goodwill as well as financial conditions. For establishing IT
system company have to pay a huge amount for installation and for their maintenance.
Benefits:
Information Technology plays a vital role in success and failure of an organisation. It
provides factors like globalisation which takes the business to next level. Integration help The
Tower Hotel to make a smoother working with numerous elements (Social Issues, 2019). Social
media provides a good platform to them and mobility also provides good management power to
system.
Drawbacks:
Some times, use of technology goes wrong. Informations available at different sites and
sources has no restrictions, any one can access and surf that data. It can be used by some terrorists
and other unwanted persons for their own benefits.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The Tower Hotel can face many issues related to ethics which can affect their goodwill as
well as their financial conditions. They also can use the information to make any harm to
organisation as well for personal benefits. Employees in The Tower Hotel have to practice for
working on system with technology. This reduces face to face interaction of a human to another
human, due to which the emotional attachment get affected. As in a single organisation, LAN
( Local Area Network) is the best option to make connection between management and employees.
This will help them to share informations and data at high speed and also reduces the complexity of
the system. It is very easy to grow the business using technologies as it allows to study and know
the new strategies and trends of market.
CONCLUSION
From the about report it is concluded that, Information Technologies is a very important part
of the modern business. It plays a crucial role in management and service sector, using IT in these
sector make the working smoother, faster and systematic. It help an organisation to grow and
expand it – self at world wide level. The Tower Hotel can use LAN network technology form three
LAN, WAN, MAN. This make their system to send and receive information and data easily and
faster. The Tower Hotel have to make proper security in the system, so that no unauthenticated
person can make access to data and make any loss to them.
