INTRODUCTION
Management refers to the process of collecting people together for the purpose of meeting
the desired goals and objectives of organization by the proper utilisation of available resources in
an efficient and effective manner. If the organization is considered as a system then the
management can also be said as human action. Human resources financial resources natural
resources technological resources are the various resources within the management. This report
is based on Burberry company which is a luxury fashion house having headquarter in Horseferry
Road Washington London England. Their main focus is on designing and distributing ready to
wear clothes which include foot wears, eyewears, fashion accessories, fragrances and Cosmetic.
This report is prepared for the purpose of explaining management structure and business
functions. Along with this it includes marketing functions in relation to business success. It also
covers the topics of Management functions talent management and organizational culture.
TASK 1
I. Outline the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of organizational
structure
There are various structures of organization explain by various corporate professor. Which one
structure of organization is suitable for any business is depend on some characteristics of
business which includes size of business numbers of employee and many more (Ahl, H., 2019).
some of them are explained below:
Entrepreneurial structure
This is structure is also known as simple structure as it is the the oldest and common
organization structure which is used by various small and industrial unit of organization. Under
this structure owners make all the decisions full stop this structure is highly centralised it is
informal structure.
Advantages
i. It helps the organization in taking quick decisions.
ii. This structure is highly reactive to the changes of environment.
Disadvantage
i. It demotivates the employees at it do not allowed them in participation in decision
making process.

ii. It do not clear the responsibility of employees which may create confusion and conflict in
the organization.
Functional structure
Organization which is offering single product or service use functional structure. Under
this structure the organization is divided on the basis of functions such as Material Management
marketing production finance and accounting and many more.
Advantages
i. This structure allows division of labour and makes sure their specialization.
It also creates the environment of coordination among all the departments of organization (Aula,
P. and Mantere, S., 2020).
Disadvantages
i. Each department start working like each individual unit.
ii. It becomes difficult for organization to work because of increase in number of geographic
areas.
I. Define business functions and their responsibilities
Business functions can be defined as a group of activities which are done by management
of a business for the purpose of carrying out the profit. It can be said that it is a process or
operation which is performed routinely for the purpose of carrying out a part of mission of an
organization. Marriage organization make various departments according to their need.
Production sales marketing accounting are various examples of business functions. It has the
organization in completing their task smoothly. Following other various functions of business
with their responsibilities:
Sales and marketing
This function of business works for the promotion of business operations. It helps the
organization to reach at their desired goals and objective. Marketing helps the audience in
knowing about the organization which ends with the sales. The Burberry has divided corporate
sales and marketing department which is responsible for the promotion of products and
providing Customer services.

Another important department of Burberry is a Human Resource Department. They are
responsible ful attracting new new ideas, screening potential candidates, managing employee
relations and maintaining optimum working conditions in the organization (Dempsey, M., 2019).
Accounting and Finance
It is an another important department in the organization which is responsible for the
generation of funds, feeling tax return, assessing the company's financial performance, invoicing
customers, keeping track on orders. It also plays an important role while calculating wages and
salaries of employees.

I. Discuss how marketing works with other business functions for the success of an
organization
The marketing function of an organization can't do all the functions alone. It is necessary to see
how marketing it is connected to other functions within the organization. Below mentioned are
the various functions which interact with Marketing function:
Research and development
It plays an important role within an organization in generating new ideas Innovation and creating
new product. In the context of Burberry, research and development work for knowing about the
fashion and toys of people. Marketing people are in the direct contact is customer they know that
taste and preference of customers which help the research and development department to know
about the behavior of customers and do innovation according to them.
Production or operations or logistic
Packing warehousing and distribution are the various activities involved in operations. Various
stores of Burberry are the place where operations are done. Marketers have to sale those product
and to maintain the record of current store in reasonable time limit for stop in this way operation
department and marketing is interrelated to each other (Desai, M., 2020).
Human Resource department
It refers to the department which undertakes the functions of recruitment selection and training
and professional development of employees. Motivating employees and taking care of health and
safety of employees at workplace is also comes under the Human Resource Department. They
are also responsible in making and developing and strategy in the organization. Aisa department

This can be saved as a part of efforts of internal marketing.
Financial department
It works for the allocation and distribution of funds within the organization. Marketing
department also need in advocate budget for the purpose of meeting the needs of research
promotion and distribution for financial department makes the complete summary of points of
organization and distribute them in All the departments in order to achieve organizational goals
and objectives.
IT ( intranet, extracted and websites)
Information Technology has made available the products at various sources for example website
intranets and extranets. Burberry is using various static me aur new technology to treat
information for marketing purpose (Gordon and et. al., 2018). Website propose to Electronic
object which placed on internet. It was for attracting customers and making long-term
relationship with them and marketers also helps the same.

Following are the various functions of management with their responsibilities:
Planning
It refers to the process of determining the objective which are going to be achieved by the
organization full stop it also include the complete action plan which the organization is going to
follow for the purpose of achieving the objective (Hillson, D. and Simon, P., 2020). They are
responsible for the planning all the functions performed by managers at every level. It helps
Organization in removing various conflicts by preparing proper clam. It is also responsible for
making sure the proper utilisation of resources.
Organising
It is the second function of management which is responsible for bringing together manpower
and material resources for the achievement of planned goals and objectives of organization.
Group the activities in a logical pattern, assign all the activities to various positions and people. It
is an essential factor in increasing the efficiency of whole organization.

Staffing
This function of management is responsible for managing the organization structure by the
selection, appraisal and development people working in the organization. It includes the
responsibility of proper selection of candidates for positions, exact remuneration and providing
proper training and development so that we can do their work effectively.
Directing
It refers to the art of getting the things done from others. Why all other functions like planning
organising and staffing are preparing for doing work, it is responsible for starting the actual
work. It involve the managers guide and support the subordinates how they can perform their
assigned the job.
Controlling
It is responsible for analysing the difference between desired objective and actual result and
recognizing the the reason behind the poor performance of organization.

eliminate the risk which is involved in the business by doing proper preparation and planning for
future uncertainty (Liu and et. al., 2017). It helps the organization in providing the completed
direction by giving proper information accurate instructions and guidance to their subordinates.
Along with this they have various importance in the business organization such as it is encourage
creativity and innovation, help motivation, important role in decision making, it is a basis of
control and many more. The process of planning include various steps such as establishing goals,
distribution planning, permission deciding planning, period, finding alternative course of action,
evaluation and selection of course of action, implementation of plan, measurement and
controlling the program.

achieving specific objectives by doing implementation of pre-determined strategies. It works as a
backbone of Management. It can be set it at it is a process of identifying and dividing the work to

relationship for the purpose of making people available to do the work in effective manner. It
plays an important role in the organization as it facilitates efficient management, coordination
and communication, growth and diversification, optimum utilisation of resources, specialisation
and at last it provides for optimum use of technological innovations. As organising is a process
so it must have value steps (McMahon, C., 2017). Determination of objectives, identification and
grouping of activities, assignment of duties, establishing relationship among individual and
group are the various steps of organising process.

I. Discussing the role of HR in relation to talent management
Human Capital Management involves the concept of talent management which makes
focus owner various specific and Critical day-to-day activities overseen by HR department.
Below mentioned are some of these important activities:
Recruiting
Hiring right people is the only foundation of talent management. The process of
recruiting people support those activities through defining job descriptions, making use of
applicant tracking system for the purpose of managing the workflow interview process and it
also helps in interviewing applicant to select the best candidate.

After the employees have been hired it is important to have the right process for the purpose of
managing them. Various and our Technology and Services solution including time and

improvise positive traits that which is the related to the improving performance of organization.
It is a complex concept as every organization has their own personality just like people. That
personality organization can be called as its culture. In a group of people who were together,
organizational culture cannot be seen as it is invisible but the force of powerful influence the
behaviour of members of complete group. Innovation, attention to detail, emphasis on outcome,
emphasis on people, teamwork, aggressiveness, stability is the various features of organizational
culture.
Importance of organizational culture
Organization is a common platform where many people work for the purpose of earning for their
livelihood. The culture decides the employees interact at their work for the purpose of promoting
healthy competition at workplace the culture also plays an important role (Shaw, M.K. and
Keeler, H.R., 2018). Organization has decided by guidelines and rules for employees to work
accordingly. The culture of organization represents all those rules and guidelines to their
employees and direct for doing the work. Work culture also create brand image of organization
which implies a positive effect on customers and create a positive reputation in the market.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that management of any organization is important to
for the purpose of performing various tasks in order to achieving organizational goals and
objectives. Management of any organization further divided into various departments so that
every employee can complete their assigned task in an effective manner according to their
specialization. Furthermore, it is analysed that market and sales department gives best efforts in

profit day by day as they are putting all efforts in attracting customers. Along with this, they are

huge positive point for increasing sales which is related to increasing profitability.
