Problem 1 – Staffing & HR - Recruitment selection retention of staff
INTRODUCTION
Staffing and HR forms out a vital part of every business organisation which comprises of a
continuous process of finding, attracting and selecting a most suitable and talented candidate for
a firm along with ensures its efficient development as well as higher retention within the
company, thus, staffing and HR is vital to have a productivity workforce in order to meet the set
organisational goals and objective in an efficient and better manner (Dhyani, Dimri and Gairola,
2020). Current case study is based on the Sports Direct international company which is selling
sports and leisure clothing, equipment, footwear and other accessories for its customers. On the
basis of current case study on Sports Direct it has been analysed that high competition and
dramatic environment is prevailing in current online fashion sales which are creating a number of
problems and issues for this organisation. Apart from this the crisis of COVID-19 as also
enhanced the issues and problem for Sports directs. Thus, it has been seen in current case study
that many issues in terms of recruiting and retaining talented and skilled manager is the biggest
concern of Sports Direct (Blayney, Cormier-MacBurnie, and Young, 2020). Further, gender pay
gap in payment of bonus is also analysed a current issue for Sport directs. Thus, current report is
prepared which comprises of discussion about Management theory and other HR practise to
analysis and mitigate above stated problem of Sports direct company.
Analysis of individual problem
Many challenges in terms of recruiting and retaining good quality and skilled managers is
also faced by Sports Direct company which become a more serve issues in condition of Covid-
19. Thus, it has become difficult for Sport Direct company to recruit, select and retain talented
employees. The most vital management theory that can be adopted by Sports direct company to
mitigate and overcome this issues related with staffing and HR comprises of implication of
motivation theory (Ogbu Edeh PhD, 2020). The role and importance of motivation theory in
effectively directing and guiding employees along with retaining them for longer period of time
has been explained below in context of Sports direct company.
Herzberg's Motivation Theory (Two Factor Theory)
The two factor theory given by Herzberg is a vital management theory which plays a
critical role on enhancing satisfaction and motivation level of employees which is helpful in
