INTRODUCTIONManagement is an art of creating such an environment where person can work individually or in agroup to attain goals of organization. It is an essential part of any entity. This study is based onbureaucratic structure of Tesco which have both negative and positive impact on functioning of thecompany. This report will assist reader to identify characteristics of such corporation. This will alsoinclude motivational theory which may affected by structure of this enterprise. 1. Organizational structureOrganization is such social system of group of individuals who are managed and structured toachieve specified goals and objectives. It is an ongoing process and structure will define relationshipbetween positions and functions. It is an open system which is affected by both internal as well asexternal factors of it. An entity is generally established for accomplishment of particular vision andmission and for this various strategies need to be made which is managed by set of people known asmanagement. As per the view of (Chang and Smithikrai, 2010), management is an art of getting thingsdone by others. It is the process of maintaining and designing environment where individuals and groupof individuals work with full efficiency to accomplish desire goals. Therefore, it is an essentials part ofevery corporation which assist in achieving set objectives with optimum utilization of resources alongwith cost reduction. Each and every business has a unique and different organizational structure that helps inallocation of tasks, supervision and coordination. Structures can be simple, flat, adhocracy, matrix, team,bureaucracy, etc. Bureaucratic structure is also known as tall and hierarchical structure. It is one of theoldest structure which most of the enterprises adopt to control functions of their business. It is acentralized organization where all decisions are made by managers and others are not includes in it. It isin pyramid-cal form. It is organized with high degree of formalities and these charts are exists for everydepartment. It includes many stages or layers of management which flows from top to lower level. In UKthere are number of entities either small or large which follows this type of structure to run their business.Some of them are CAPCO, Hilton Hotel, TESCO, British Airways, Marriott Hotel, etc. (Lewis, 2011) defines that bureaucratic structure is very common in nature and used by many ofthe firms and corporations in all over the world. It has both positive as well as negative impact onfunctioning of a business. It is generally in favor of large organizations where a number of layers ofmanagement exist.
