INTRODUCTION The management is the process of planning, organising, leading and controlling resources of a company. The organisational management includes proper adjustment of setting values and rules of firm, designing of structures, arranging all resources and managing day to day performance. This assignment is based on Grace Food that is a food manufacturing company established in 1922. This Report will discuss the key function of business that can help in promoting image of organization. Study will describe effectiveness of structures in order to raise brand image and overall profitability of the organization (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014). PART 1 1. Discuss the key functions help to promote image of organization There are different key functions of a company such as human resources' management, marketing, finance and customers services which are helpful in promoting image of Grace Foods. Human Resources Management (HRM):The human resources are people those who work in the firm and contribute to raise profitability of firm. It includes manpower, talents, labour, personnel and people. HR department is responsible for managing human resource of an enterprise. HRM is the strategic approach to effective management of workers and organization which helps in gaining competitive advantage (Functions & Practices of Human Resource Management.2018). HR designs work responsibilities in such manner so that employees can perform well and can contribute in maximizing performance of business. The purpose of HRM practices in Grace Food is to increase productivity and effectiveness of employees. The basic objective of HR is to acquire, develop and retain talents within business for longer duration. They have to design employee’s benefits, recruitment, training and development, performance appraisals and manage pay roll system. HRM Practices: There are various practices in HR department of Grace Food are describes as below: Manpower Planning:The HR department is responsible to make plan for manpower which is used for managing resources of Grace foods. For planning of manpower, HR is to exchanging information, arrange training of staff in the organization (Bailey and et.al, 2018). It is the practice for taking reviews, plans of update and competency of profiles in workplace. By making effective plan HR department can fill the gap of skills required in the firm. This would 1
support in promoting brand image of the Grace Foods. It is helpful in increasing growth and development opportunities for company. Recruitment and Selection:The HR team has to design recruitment and selection process for managing human resources in company (Bailey and et.al, 2018). HR is uses different methodsforselectingnewemployeesinorganization.Therefore,HRteamisadopting appropriate method for selecting suitable candidates can contribute in growth and development of Grace Foods. The HR team ensures to recruit such candidate that has necessary skills and quality that is required to for particular job. Training and development:It is another practice of HR department in which human resource manager of the Grace Food has to provide training to new and existing employees. Through training, HR tries to raise their skills, knowledge and abilities so that they can perform well. It helps in improving performance level of workers in the workplace (Breči and Simintiras, 2016). Training and development is incorporated with manpower and succession planning of employees. It aids in promoting image, growth and development of Grace Foods. Performance Management:The HR team is measure performance of all workers. It is the system that help in identifying training and development needs of staff members of Grace Foods. They are to manage presentation of all workers and they have to implement effective strategies for improving their performance in company. The execution of workers can support in attracting more consumers and making them loyal towards brand. Therefore, they areto use different methods of training and development for improving skills and abilities. It helps to promote of the firm and raising its profit as well (Deery and Jago, 2015). Employees Relation:The HR team has to maintain relationship with employees in workplaces.Sothat,allemployeescancommunicateproperlyandworkcomfortably. Employees' relation is more helpful for working in a team. HR is organizing various kinds of events and programs for interaction of new employees with existing in workplace. It is helps to identify an individual's performance while working in a team. It is also promotes image, growth and development of Grace Foods. Therefore, HR should maintain and developrelationship between employees in the company (Human, Bick and Singh, 2016). Rewards Management:The HR team is plan and manage of rewardssystem of employees performance in the workplace.It is main responsibility of them that to give benefits and to workers so that they feel happy and valued.. Marketing The marketing is the process of market the product and promote the brand across the world. Marketing manager has to communicate necessary information to consumers so that they can know about amazing services of the firm.. The marketing is process of developing strategies for the growth of the enterprise and , promotion of the company. The purpose of marketing is to increase sales and profits of company. The Grace Foods is company which manufactured foods and beverages products. Therefore, marketing manager of enterpriseimplements various strategies and function for raising sales and profits. Function of Marketing: There are various function of marketing department such as follows: AssessingOpportunities:ThemarketingmanagerofGraceFoodshastoassess opportunities for business. These opportunities are helpful in identifying goals and increased profits of firm (Tengilimoglu, Atilla and Dursun-Kilic, 2016). The manager has to adopt dynamic view of marketing opportunities through planning of innovation programs. Therefore, manager and employees has to accept all risks and have to find solution to resolve these challenges. Marketing Planning :The marketing manager makes marketing planning. Marketing plan assist in communicating right message to the right audience so that they can take interest and experience services of the Grace Food. 3
Product Design and development:The marketing manager has to design and develop of products in such manner so that consumers can buy this product. It is important that designing of products should correct and attractive, so that company can increase sales and profits. The manager should make efforts on products design so that it can gain competitive advantages. It is not enough to prepare a design but it is essential to make regular changes so that products can satisfy needs of consumers (Human, Bick and Singh, 2016). This can create positive image in the mind of consumers. Standardisation:it is essential for the business that to follow standards and design products as per industry standards.The marketing manager should make efforts to determine quality and design of products of Grace Foods. It helps inattracting customers and increasing sales. It can promote brand image of the firm across the world. Packaging and Labelling:The marketing manager of Grace Foods is responsible for attractive and accurate packaging and labelling of products. The packaging of products needs to be done in such manner so that it can avoid damage, breakage and destruction while transit of goods (Marchington and et.al, 2016). The handling, lifting and transferring are facilities of packaging. Packaging materials involved wooden box, plastic bags and bottles etc. labelling is must on products for information regarding products and its producers. The packaging attracts the customers and supports in increasing sales of business unit. Branding:The marketing manager of Grace Foods aims that their products get special identity in the market. The objective of branding is to show their unique identify and gain competitive advantage. It helps to increase sales and profits of company. Pricing:It is most important function of marketing for deciding of pricing of products of Grace Foods. The cost of products, rate of profits, competitor pricing and products and government policy which affects pricing of products. Therefore, manager is to determinethe price in appropriate manner for earning profits (Nyuur, Brečić and Simintiras, 2016). Places:The marketing manager is to making decision for carrying goods from production place to consumption point of goods. It is responsibility of manager thatgoods are reached on right time on the right place. It is to helps for customers taking products according to their needs and wants. It helps to increase sales and image of company. Promotion:The marketing manager is to making decision for promoting the products through advertising, personal selling, sales promotion and publicity. Therefore, company is to 4
increase sales and profits by selling of products. The promotion of products of company is helps to developing image and reputation (Tengilimoglu, Atilla and Dursun-Kilic, 2016). Customer Support Services:The manager of marketing should make efforts provide better services to the customers. It is responsibility of manager to take care of services after sales, handling customers complaints, technical services and its maintenance. It helps completion of needs and wants of the customers. It helps for company to increase sales and profits. 2. Demonstrating impacts of organizational structure in attaining success To attain the success for the long terms and retaining it as per having the best profitable returns. Therefore, Grace foods needed to have adequate organizational structure which will bring the collaboration and coordination among the workforce. Thus, it will bring the promptness in the activities which will be adequate in meeting the targets in the right time (Bailey and et.al, 2018). It will be helpful in developing satisfactory communication in individual such as managers, subordinates etc. that reflects a favourable relationship and brings growth to entity. Moreover, there are various types of organizational structure which will be discussed as per having better understanding such as: Tall organizational structure: This structure will be based on vertical orientation of the managements' hierarchy. It is comprised with the rules, policies which are being associated with the job and influences of strict command as well as centralized power. Recruitment of highly qualified and typical group will perform on the specific projection. Grace foods will have influences of this structure that will be useful in making appropriate changes and determination of all activities. The commands and the changes in any operations will be passed through hierarchical process. Moreover, it creates the strict environment in the organization as per making appropriate determination of all the facts and figures (Gorman and McDowell, 2018). In relation with implicating the flat structure there will be adequate determination of all the operations as well as better administrative control which in turn will be useful and appropriate in making the qualitative changes in the operations. In this technique there will be no existence of hierarchy on whichprofessionalsarefreetoconveytheirmessage,thoughtsandideasamongother individuals and it will be more effective in developing the adequate relationship. The set of such organizational structure will be based on the product structure of the business. Each product line in the organization will share the resources among different department. Therefore, there will be control over the duplicity of the activities based on performing the same operational practices in the organization (Jeppesen and et.al., 2017). Implicating this organizational structure in Grace foods will be beneficial in terms of attaining the adequate work practices such as making fruitful production of the articles. There will be reduction in repetition of the same tasks and which in turn will be useful for developing the appropriate operations. On the other side, there will be reduction in the costs of obtaining the resources but there will be higher chances of having duplicate tasks. Thus, if the poor communication and coordination among the workforce will create the wastage of time in making the same products or process in twice. However, considering the flat technique will be more adequate and helpful to the professionals of Grace foods as there will be influences of strong communication which will helps them in executing the operations. Flat Structures:The Grace Foods is implementing flat structure for the company. In this structure, control and management at lower level by fewer manager. The decision making process is occurs at staff level and there is no interference of top level management in the company. The benefits of flat structure is to lower operational costs which increases productivity of employees. It helps to easily and directly communicate with staff through without any intermediaries (Marchington and et.al, 2016). It also assists to take quick decision and action by few level manager in the workplace. It is beneficial for employees to free from strict control and supervision by top management. It is suitable for routine activities of employees. It is also beneficial for company that all employees are better working and increasing sales, image and growth. The flat structure is reduce costs and expenses on salaries. The benefit of structure is to better interaction and collaboration between staff for working together in the organization. This structure ishelp for improving employees motivation and satisfaction by implementing their ideas and thoughts in decision making process in the company. It helps to increase productivity and motivation of employees (Nyuur, Brečić and Simintiras, 2016). It increases job satisfaction, expectation and interaction with staff in Grace Foods. It is beneficial for employees to use skills 6
and talents in services of company. It increases trust and loyalty in between staff and increases creativity for better working. It reduces micromanage which use to every detail of tasks that complete by staff members. It also assists of create innovation and ideas for solve conflicts and problems in the organization.The flat structure of company is beneficial for employees to participation in decision making and achieving goals and objectives of company as well as individual's (Tengilimoglu, Atilla and Dursun-Kilic, 2016). CONCLUSION From the study it can be concluded key functions which helps to promote the image of the Grace Foods such as function Human resources and marketing both this plays roles of brand image of the organization.
