INTRODUCTION
Employee management refers to a process which takes place in various organisations and is
connected to human resource department. This is a function which is very necessary to be
performed with adequate perfection employees are the most valuable asset for every company
and they have to be managed properly (Banfield, Kayand Royles, 2018). This report is based on
Nissan which is a Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer which sell the cars under
brand name of Nissan, Datsun and Infiniti. The company was established in 1993 and has its
headquartered in Yokohama. Some aspects which is discussed in this report includes leadership
and management functions of a company training & development process and further process of
talent management in the organisation.
TASK 1
Leadership and management
Leadership is process in relation with how a leader can influence a particular group and
influence their team members who are having a common objective or goal to be achieved.
Overall traits of leaders play a very significant role in making a leaders contributing effectively
towards achievement of organisational objectives. Every leaders makes attempts that maximum
contribution can be made by their subordinate which is a tool for measuring how much
successful a particular leader has been in influencing and making subordinates work towards a
particular set goal (Chan, , 2018) .
Management is also related with the various administrative functions which are being
performed in company. This is basically a process which has four major aspects like planning,
organisation, leading functions and monitoring & controlling activities. All function have to be
performed effectively so that objectives of whole organisation can be achieved in the specified
time period.

successful leader which can help in achieving various objectives which have been set by them.
Those traits are confidence, honesty and integrity, ability to inspire others, accountability,
empathy, creativity, humility and many other such related traits. These are very helpful in having
a positive contribution of a leader towards achievement of various objectives in organisation. In
Nissan also leaders working at different levels of company will be able to achieve their
objectives with the help of such traits and skills (Comte and Pendleton, , 2018) .
Traits of a manager: there are some traits which have to be necessarily present in a
manager which includes experience, leadership capabilities, able to make effective
communication, management of time, delegation, reliability and such other factors all of this
contribute ton achievement of various objectives and managing the functions of overall
organisation in Nissan.
Leadership style: There are many different kinds of leadership style which can be
adopted by a company. Every style has its own advantages and disadvantages associated with it.
In context of Nissan it can be said that the most suitable style of leadership is democratic style or
participative style of leadership this is the style which will help in increasing the participation of
employees in company. This style will help in increasing employee morale and at same time this
is helpful in making employee’s believe that their view point is also important in every decision
which has to be taken in company.
Analysis of the adopted style of leadership: It can be said that every style of leadership
has some advantage sand disadvantage associated with it. Such as in present case in Nissan if
participative style of leadership will be adopted then it has a benefit that it will lead to a positive
impact on employee as they will be motivated to give their contribution and this can also have a
disadvantage in terms of situations of various conflicts which arise when the opinion on a
particular decision is different of two employees. This leads to a negative environment in the
organisation and in Nissan this may result into reduction in the overall productivity of
employees.
Suggestion and recommendations: It is there for recommend that Nissan must adopt a
particular style of leadership according to the overall culture of working which is prevailing in
successful leader which can help in achieving various objectives which have been set by them.

Training and development
Meaning: This is one of the major functions of the human resource department with the
help of which they improves the skills, knowledge and their abilities of the employees of the
organisation. Trainings are provided to the employees to enhance the skills to undertake some
job while the development programs are conducted with the aim to improve their overall
capabilities of the employees which helps them in their growth (Lawrence, 2018).
Employee Performance: Employee performance refers to the ways in which the employees
behave at the workplace and how well do they perform so that their duties and obligations are
met. It is considered by the HR managers to determine the contribution of the individual
employee in the achievement of the overall goal and objective of the company.

can be used by the companies for measuring the employee’s performance such as: Productivity
test, management by objective and 360 degree feedback. Other than these various other tools can
be used by the organisations (McGill,and Ambrose, 2018). With the help of these methods the
employee in the organisation can measure the level of performance of the employee an according
to the performance various training and development programs are conducted for the employees
by the HR team.
Honey and Mumford Learning Style Theory: This is a theory which was proposed by
Peter Honey and Alan Mumford. In this theory they suggested four types of styles of learning
