INTRODUCTION
People management is process which refers to it is also known as Human resources
management which refers to managing employees in that way to enhancing profitability and
productivity of company as well as providing various training programmes and skills in order to
providing motivation and encouraging towards the work so it is beneficial for employees as well
as organisation (Ashdown, 2018). The report is about Tesco which refers to situated in United
Kingdom and they are dealing in wide range of products and services which result as attracting
large numbers of customers. It is one of the leading supermarket chain in UK which effectively
adapting the HRM practices in order to achieving organisation goal and objectives. The paper
consist is the analysis the various challenges and issues which are faced by organisation due to
COVID -19 situation and many others. It includes HR department plays vital role in order to
providing training programmes for employees as well as performance management. It includes
adapting the various theories and models which result as enhancing productivity and profitability
of company.

TASK 1
Explain the knowledge skill and behaviour in order to effective people management.
People management is important concept in order to utilising various tools and
techniques in order to effectively managing people which result as enhancing knowledge, skill
and behaviour. In relevance of Morrison, it involves various skills and techniques which utilising
by organisation so which are discussed below.
Team building-: Team building is tool and techniques which utilised by organisation in
order to developing team spirit among the existing employees as well as their team members
performing task and activities effectively and efficiently which result as achieving organisation
goal and objectives of company (Bazeley, 2018). It includes superior utilise various models and
theories which are helps to development of team such as Tuckman's team development model. In
relevance o organisation, it involves this models has different steps and stages which are
essential to follow such as
Stage1: forming-: It is first step which refers to creating team which refers each and
every members to know about each other so it helps to developing in order to improving work

performance of employees as well as superiors are assigned the roles and responsibilities to each
and every members which result as helps to achieving organisation goal and objectives and
managing the process efficiently.
Stage2: storming-: organisation establishing first stage effectively then implementing the
second stage which refers to leader helps to team members in order to listening problems and
find out the best solution so reducing conflict and confusion between the team members and
smoothly run the business operations and effectively increasing profitability and productivity of
company (Cvenkel, 2020). In context of Tesco, it involves mangers solve the problems of
employees so effectively team development as well as all the members are work together.
Stage3: norming-: This stage plays the vital role in order to providing good and healthy
environment for employees so perform the work effectively ad efficiently so developing friendly
environment in order to work together achieving specific target within time period. In relevance
of organisation, it includes team leader conducting good and strong relation with the members so
they support to each other and also involving in decision making process so help to achieving
organisation goal and objectives.
Satge4: performing-: It includes various process which result as achieving better result.
In context of Tesco, it is stages which refers to developing the various strategy in order to
increasing productivity and profitability in order to managing the people effectively. It includes
organisation taking effective decision making process which helps to team members learn the
various skill and knowledge to attaining organisation goal and objectives (Dunning, 2017).
Motivational Theory
Motivation Theory is essential for employees in order to superiors helps to increasing job
satisfaction level of employees in order to improving performance effectively and efficiency. It
is process which result as various stages are discussed follow.
Physiological needs-: It includes basic need so superior essential to fulfil this needs in order to
various basic needs such as shelter, food and water. It is essential for each and every individual
so without that survive for longer period of time.
Safety-: It is process which refers to organisation conducting various safety measures for
the employees. In context of Tesco, it involves due to COVID-19 situation HR manager
providing healthy and safety working environment in order to accomplished their task within
specific time period.

Belongingness needs-: It is stage which plays important role because there are included
friends, family members, relatives and personal relationship which are essential to fulfil their
needs (Kamphuis, 2020). In relevance of organisation, it includes employees developing friendly
environment so easily approach to anyone as well as needs are fulfilled and achieving
organisation goal and objectives.
Self esteem needs-: In reference of Tesco, it includes team leader motivating and
encouraging the employees and team members towards the work so specifically accomplishing
work as well as enhancing productivity and profitability of company.
Self actualization-: It is process which result as conducting various activity such as
enhancing their skills, knowledge and creativity in order to improving work performance. In
context of organisation, it includes various programmes and seminar which are helps to inspiring
the employees in order to achieving the professional as well as personal goal.
TASK 2
Examine Human resources process for effective person management.
Performance management review-: It is an effective concept which refers to utilising
most of organisation in order to HR department plays vital role because they are managing
employees and improved work performance (Lewis, 2016). It involves is long and continuous
process which refers to evaluating performance of employees so they set standard on that basis
measures the performance so which are focused on various theory which are discussed below.
Goal setting theory-: In relevance of Tesco, it includes organisation setting their goal and
objectives accordingly formulated the strategies in order to preparing proper plan because in
present context and situation are tuff competitions accordingly focusing the objectives and goal.

It includes accordingly preparing the strategy which result as attained the goal and objectives in
order to actively participate in various activity and task.
Control theory-: Most of employees and mangers utilising this model in order to
smoothly run the business operations such as including various management theory such as
feedback (Moran, 2016). It is focusing on employees performance so accordingly taking the
feedback of employees as well as enhancing profitability and productivity of company.
Social cognitive theory-: It involves various activities and take which are essential to
accomplishing in order to achieving higher work performance of employees as well as achieving
goal and objectives. It includes superior focusing on different goal and objectives which result as
enhancing profitability and productivity of company. It includes employees greater contribution
towards the achieving organisation goal and objectives.
360 degree appraisal-: It is most significant approach which utilising in most of
organisation in order to conducting feedback process which refers to organisation taking
feedback from employees, customers, co-workers, staff members and supervisor and many
others. It includes senior or middle level of employees which are helps to achieving organisation
goal and objectives which result as improving work performance of employees so it effectively
measures as well as overall feedback regarding performance as well as behaviour of employees
so accordingly utilising in order to attained the goal and objectives of organisation.
Self appraisal-: It is opportunity which refers to analysing the strength and weaknesses of
employees in order to affect the work performance within the organisation (Rose, 2018). It
includes various process which result as traditional techniques in order to measure the 360
degree performance of appraisal which result as measuring the performance effectively and
efficiently. It includes self improvement for the employees due to management of he company
putting too much efforts in order to effectively tools and techniques used which result as sustain
and survive for longer period of time.
Subordinate appraisal-: It is another form of appraisal method which refers to judging
the performance of employees in order to various areas such as delegation work, leadership,
quality , team work and many others. It is process which including internal stakeholders
providing feedback in order to fulfil the objectives and goal of company. It includes team work
which effectively measures the performance of employees.

TASK 3

Training and development-: It includes organisation faced the COVID-19 situation
which refers to organisation difficult to sustain for longer period of time so accordingly
providing training programmes and seminars which result as Tesco trying to train the employees
in order to current situation and condition so it impact on profitability and productivity of
company (Rossberg, 2019).
According to Rodger, it includes the needs and wants so accordingly utilising various
learning types methods and experience which are helps to enhancing learning attitude and power
so helps to achieving organisational goal and objectives.
Theory of reinforcement-: It is theory which refers to learning behaviour of employees
or individuals so accordingly sustain and self development for longer period of time which result

the business operations and functions. It includes providing reward system which refers to
providing various reward such as certification, promotion, salary and many others.
Leadership development-: It focusing the current situation and condition which result as
enhancing profitability and productivity so on that basis providing training programmes for
employees. Due to COVID-19 situation organisation and HRM practices focusing on this theory
which are follows.
Contingency theory-: This theory which refers to including various leadership style,
techniques and tools because it is various situations and conditions affect them as well as impact
on performance of employees (Sakurai, 2019). In relevance of organisation, it includes team
members follow such kinds of leadership style which result as improving performance of
employees as well as organisation. In addition to this, it includes supervisor effectively adapting
such leadership styles and tools in order managing the employees performance on that basis
providing healthy and safety working environment.
Compensation and benefits-: It is important concept in order to most of organisation
establishing effective system in order to managing workforce accordingly conducting smooth
function and operation. It includes various process which result as HR manger evaluating
performance on that basis measures the work and accordingly establishing reward system so
result as enhancing job satisfaction level of employees. Superior of organisation providing

encouraging and motivation towards the employees due to monetary terms is biggest motivation
for employees as well as most of organisation providing incentive packages for the employees so
motivated towards the work and accomplishing their specific targets and goals (Sakurai, 2019).
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that, it includes people management important
aspect in order to managing workforce effectively and efficiently in order to achieving
organisation goal and objectives. It involves various tools and techniques which result as
improving performance of employees as well as employer. It is process which HR department
plays important role in order to providing training, skill, knowledge for employees which result
as accomplishing work effectively and efficiently as well as enhancing productivity and
profitability. It includes HR manager assigned their job responsibility and roles in order to they
are accountable for their work. It involves various theories and models are utilising by
organisation in order to HR manger adapting effective tools which applied on different situations
and conditions.
