Recommendation 4
Increase the proportion of nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80% by 2020.
The nursing segment is the biggest segment of the health care work force of Nation.
Along with working for the patient care the nurses can play an important role in understanding
the objectives proposed in the 2010 affordable care act. There are numerous barriers that prevent
the nurses from acting accordingly to the altering health care setting (Blegen, Vaughn & Goode,
2012). The barriers need to be overcome in order to ensure that the nurses get the right to lead
changes and advanced health.
Patients are getting sicker and health care is getting complex day by day. In order to
tackle the situation the nurses should be highly qualified and they should have 80%
baccalaureate degree. Some are of the opinion that as the rules of employing the nurses are
becoming stringent, and in this looming age of nursing shortage (Pitman et al., 2015). The whole
procedure will extend the time for the nurses to enter the workforce (Blegen, Vaughn & Goode,
2012). As a nurse I am well aware of the task that I am entitled with. I have learned about the
holistic care of approach that should be provided to a patient. Nurses should have specific skills
to take care of much sicker and older patients. I think that my education and learning would help
me to obtain the baccalaureate degree. This would increase my competence and the confidence,
which will be absolutely suitable for the treating critical care patients.

Double the number of nurses with a doctorate degree by 2020.

According to me a doctorally prepared nurse should be able to lead the educational reforms at all
the program levels and will co lead the betterment of the patient outcomes and will help in
improving the initiatives in the healthcare delivery (Chism, 2015). I believe that the nurses
should have the capability to implement the full scope of the academic role and the missing in
the future. The structural framework of the nursing is 40 years old and lack the evidence based
model and shall be reformed. Therefore I believe that my educative based research education
would help me to get a doctorate degree in the future. And with the growing responsibility of the
nurses, the number of highly educated nurses will also increase in number (Pitman et al., 2015).
Recommendation 6
Ensure that nurses engage in lifelong learning.
With the increasing demand of the healthcare, the demand for proper nursing care is also
increasing. Today the normal conventional framework of the nursing protocol will not be able to
cope up with the increasing changes. Nowadays a nurse goes hand in hand with the other health
professionals. With the increasing complications of the diseases and the treatment, the nursing
education should not be confined to a particular limit. Researches always help to bring better
outcomes (Clavelle, 2012). A nursing practice should be mainly evidence faced or research
based. There is no time limit for learning or to do research. A research can be done about a
particular clinical condition depending upon the systems. So research based practice cannot be
confined within a certain age limit and can be practiced lifelong.
Patients are getting sicker and health care is getting complex day by day. A doctorate
nurse can contribute to the profession by research, by creating new theories. It has been reported
the job demanded in nursing would increase by 17% by 2020 (Clavelle, 2012). A nursing market

that was already energetic was gearing up more in the future. My research based education and
learning regarding nursing would definitely help me to seek a good career.
My level of education would definitely help me as my education in nursing is totally
research based that would help me in future in dealing with critical conditions. My evidence
based learning would help me to assess the patients correctly and provide a better care. My
nursing ethics will help me to provide a holistic care of approach to the patients.
