IT COMMUNICATIONS: TRAINING USING SOCIAL MEDIA 2MEMODateTo:From:Re: Training of Staff on New Technology Using a Social Media Platform In reference to the above subject matter, this memo details how the new staff will be trained on the use of the new technology, effectively and efficiently using a social media platform. Social media is ubiquitous and has the power of great engagement and interaction, making it a highly suitable tool for training. The use of social media will enable training to be undertaken across geographically dispersed persons, in real time, and enable participation by all employees undergoing the training just as would happen in a class/ room based training (Flynn, 2012). The proposed approach will use more than a single tool for the training; the tools proposed for this training include a Webinar and a Blog. A webinar refers to a video encoded, live web based conferencing where he power of the Interned is harnessed to connect an individual hosting the webinar to the audience participating in the event; the audience can listen to the event from any location (Moreau, 2017). For this training, the ‘Go ToWebinar’ platform will be used for the training. The platform is a proprietary, online based tool for holding live web based conferences where an account will be created and the training content uploaded. All participants will be invited to the webinar through a link, and be informed by a prompt once the webinar starts. The chosen platform is suitable for professional web based training, because it contains additional features that traditional webinar platforms such as Google Plus lack. The video component means that all trainees can participate in the training and there is greater communication and interaction courtesy of using video. Successful training requires relevant material and content, as well as interaction and participation; this makes the webinar tool that enables all these, including visibility, to be a highly effective tool to conduct the training. The platform has a cloud based architecture, meaning that it does not have to be installed (although this is a possibility); the users will simply be asked to tune into the webinar and participate. A blog refers to an information or discussion website that is published on the Internet and is made up of diary style informal text entries, that are termed ‘posts’, displayed in a reverse chronological order. In addition to the webinar, a blog will be created to help those that might have otherwise missed anything on the webinar to follow from the blog (Rush & Stearns, 2014). Using
