IT INFRASTRUCTURE
Introduction
Computer networks is a very integral part of every organization that involve sharing of computer
resources and transfer of information from one person to another1. Being an interconnectivity of
computer devices such as network devices which include transmission cables, switches, routers, access
points, servers, among others, a proper design of such network will guarantee an efficient and reliable
service delivery for any organization2. This network proposal main focus is to meet the following
objectives for the selected company:
 Scalability
 Network security
 Easy network management and troubleshooting
 Efficient and effective data processing
This focus of this report therefore is to analyze the current network design of Technosavy Limited
Company by providing a brief background of the company’s infrastructure, look at some of the IT
infrastructure required for the proposed solution. This project also entails providing a new network
design based on three-layered hierarchical model. The analysis of the current IT infrastructure for this
company will be done as well as the geographical representation of the proposed solution. The report
will also discuss the possibility of scaling the proposed network design for this company. All the services
and servers required for the new network will be identified and this information used to design a logical
diagram for the proposed design. The report will also propose an IP address scheme and subnet mask
that will be used for all networks in this design. A recommendation of cloud based design will also be
provided by identifying two of the cloud service providers and justifying why these providers suits the
company. This will be done by listing all the organization’s services that can be hosted in cloud and also
analyzing the scalability based on virtualization and design with respect to cloud based design. Finally,
the report will show the proposed network simulation using cisco packet tracer software. The simulation
will consist of access layer devices such as DHCP, Web and DNS servers. It will also show how the clients
access the network dynamically as well as how they access the web server before providing a
comprehensive conclusion and recommendations to Technosavy Limited Company.
Background Information
Technosavy Limited Company is an IT company that deals with software development and deployment
to various clients. This company has it offices located in three storey buildings facing each other. Every
building for this company has an estimated total of 3000 computers that are connected to the internet
and they all have identical LAN. The company has its data center located within one of its building. It is in
this data center where all of this company’s server which include DHCP server, DNS server, and WEB
server, among others are located. Although the company is able to perform its daily functions, it has
been experiencing frequent network failures as well as difficult times in trying to manage and

troubleshoot their network. This is due to the current network being poorly designed and affecting the
company’s business operations on a regular basis. This therefore means that the company needs to
redesign their network afresh in order to avoid such inconveniences in future hence the proposal.
Components of IT Infrastructure
There are two sets of IT infrastructure required for the design and implementation of the proposed
network for Technosavy Limited Company. These are:
Hardware Components Requirements
The hardware part of the infrastructure for the proposed network include all the network physical
devices to be interconnected together to form a network 3. Some of the required devices for this
network include:
Ethernet Cables
These are transmission cables that will connect various networking devices to the network (LAN). The
recommended Ethernet cable for this network will be Cat 6 ethernet cables which provide quality
communication between devices within LAN.
Servers
These are storage devices where the company’s information will be stored and accessed from. Servers
allow sharing and access of company’s information by the employees via the network. Therefore the
company will need to have the following servers in place: Web server for hosting their domain, a
database server, mail server, DHCP server for dynamic network configuration, file server, DNS server and
finally a print server.
Switches
This network device allows the connection of networking devices such as employee’s computers,
routers, servers, etc. to access networking services such as sharing of resources and communication
among end users4. The device therefore can be used to extend the company’s network since it is
characterized by several Ethernet ports that makes this possible.
Routers
Having the company located between three adjacent buildings, the proposed network will be
characterized with many network segmentations5. All these network will need a router to be linked
