AI Summary
This project details the IT networking design for a restaurant, outlining a network diagram with 30 computers connected via hubs and switches, six printers, and four scanners using Ethernet cables. The network utilizes a router, firewall, and a wireless connection to a local service provider for internet access. Information is stored in the cloud for easy access and transfer. The assignment explains the function of network components like hubs, routers, switches, Ethernet cables, printers, scanners, firewalls, and cloud storage. It also discusses connection media, specifically wireless connections, and their advantages over wired connections. Furthermore, the project provides a list of possible connection media options including copper cable and fiber optics, comparing their features and benefits. The conclusion summarizes the network setup, highlighting the components and connections involved.

INTRODUCTION
Networking is a type of telecommunication between computers where data is exchanged
through a data link. One of the most common information network that is known to everyone is
internet. With the help of this network any kind of information can be searched, transmitted to
another devices with the help of modems, switches, gateways and routers. In this assignment
networking diagram of a restaurant has been explained with all the equipments connected to all
the computers. Here, all the connection media, network type, items and components used with
their cost and description has been explained in details.
MAIN BODY
1. Network Diagram
2. Description of the diagram
In the above network diagram 30 computers are connected with hubs and switches [1].
All the computers and laptops are connected to six printers and four scanners through an

Ethernet cable. All these connections are connected through a router which is further connected
to firewall. This complete Network is connected through a wireless network through a local
service provider which provides high internet connection. All the information stored, saved or
transferred is saved in the cloud so that all the information stored at one place can be transferred
to other computers or laptops easily. All the components used in the above network diagram will
be explained below:
Hub: Hub is a common connection point for devices in the network and connects
segments of LAN.
Router: Router is used to transfer data packages along the network. It is placed at the
gateways i.e. a place where two or more network connects. Router uses protocols in order
to communicate and uses or configures the best route between any two hosts.
Switch: In a network, switch is a devise that is used to forward or filter packages between
LAN Segments and supports any packet protocols. All the LAN's that uses switches to
join segments are called switched LAN's.
Ethernet cable: It is a popular type of network cable used for high speed connection
between devices.
Wireless connection: Wireless term is used to describe computer network connection
with no wired physical connection between sender and receiver.
Printer: it is used to print any text or image through digital electronic printing process.
Scanner: it is used to Scan images or text for computing editing and display [2]. It can be
done in black and white or coloured that completely depends upon the type of scanner.
Firewall: It is a type of network security system that controls or monitors all the outgoing
or ingoing network traffic based on predefined security rules.
Network Cloud: it makes all the systems in the network resourceful especially computing
power and storage which is available on demand without direct active user management.
3. Connection Media used to build a network
Network Media refers to the communication channels that used to interconnect the nodes
of the computer network. Connection media generally used to exchange the data from source to
destination with the help of various ways. It may be in the form of three different ways Home
network, Business network and Internet are the three common examples. Basically, transmission

media are the physical pathways that connects the computers, other devices and people on the
network in order to share data and information.
The Restaurant networking design created in the above diagram have used wireless media
connection to communicate with each computer within the hotel [3]. In this networking design
we have preferred to choose Wireless connection media because it is most effective and efficient
medium that provides easy accessibility of the internet connection.
Wireless Connection media
These media are mainly used to develop an effective network connection within the
restaurant which allows the exchange of data and information. It is faster and less costly than
the deployment of cable within a hotel. It may in the form of radio Frequency, microwave,
satellite and infrared. On the other hand, it may get easily affected by the external impairments
such as adverse weather, climatic situations etc.
List of Possible connection media options are:
Copper Cable: This uses electrical signals to pass the data between networks. Unshielded
twisted pair is made by twisting by the copper cables around and this reduces the degeneration.
Shielded twisted pair copper shielding around the twisted wires to make them less suspectible to
interference. It is less expensive then fiber optic.

Fiber Optics: It is generally used to carry the sound information from the socket into a wall
where it can be proceed by another cable to the local telephone exchange. It basically sends the
information that is coded in a beam of light down the glass or via a plastic pipe [4]. Fiber optics
works as the light travel downs a fiber optic cable by bouncing repeatedly off the walls. Its light
is the form of tiny photons which reflects the glass at a shallow angle. The structure of this cable
is designed in such a way that it keeps the light inside the pipe. Generally network adopters are
used to transmit the signals. It is not more expensive then copper cable and also it is more
reliable and carries much higher bandwidth then copper cable.

These are wired network adapter connectors. This can be helpful in transfer the data over
more distance at the higher throughput then the copper wire [5]. Fiber optics technology sends
the pulses of light generated by light emitting diode or laser along optic fibers.
CONCLUSION
From the above assignment it has been concluded that network of the restaurant consist
of 12 computers connected to high speed network,3 0 computers with shared internet connection,
with 6 printers and 4 scanners on the shared network. In the above network diagram complete
network diagram has been explained in details with description of all the hardware components
used in details.
