Journal Entry: Perception
Description: This in the context of the conversation between my friend and me after competing
from our classes. We sat down together after a long day in class and started discussing the
problem he was suffering back home.
Interaction: So, my friend started talking about the issue he was facing at home. He said that his
mother was not fond of him, and his parents changed drastically after the birth of her brother. I
listened to the situation carefully without voicing much of the opinion because I thought this was
the thing that needed to be listened to rather than voicing anything. Then he started describing an
incident in the school. He said that during the annual function day, none of his parents visited,
and he went alone and was humiliated during the situation before his friends and teachers. He
also said that some of the bullied in school as well. He was o the verge of crying. On my way
back home, I said that he change his perspective and look into the situation from a different
perspective. Maybe it due to the reason that his brother needed more attention at this point of
time than him that’s why his parents are engaged in this
Analysis
Implicit Personality Theory: This is a theory which describes the specific pattern and the bias
which an individual uses and informing the impression which is based on a limited amount of
initial information that is unfamiliar to the person (McCrae et al. 2019).
It is about the circumstances. In this situation, I think my friend has forced the perception of his
parents without knowing the actual reason and rationalizing the situation. From the application of
implicit personality theory, it can be said that my friends have perceived the interaction of his

parents and has created a social justice in the situation. The trait carelessness shown by his
parents has made my friend evaluate the attitude and care shown by his parents towards him and
his brother. This one trait that he has evaluated that from their parents and started perceiving that
his parents have other traits as well. Application of the theories has shown that it has influenced
that memory of other people as well in which my friend only reamer the careless and negligence
of his parents towards, however, fails to see how his parents all the years have cared about him
(Rutledge et al. 2018). Supplication of this theory suggests that how the other traits that are not
present in his parents have been overlooked by him and only perceived those traits which were
not present in his parents. Here the halo effect has also taken place, which refers to the tendency
of the people attributes, which is to display a few good terms. Here also it has taken place where
my friend has reached a conclusion without knowing the actual matter.
